It Is Always A Good Time To Use Homeopathy

With the start of new school year, I wanted to repost this blog. Even though I am talking about children in this blog, homeopathy is wonderful for all ages.

*******

When I speak to a mom/dad/grandparent about their child, I almost always say this is a good time for your child to come in for homeopathic care. I say this whether the child is a baby (3 1/2 month old), young child, teenage child or 20 something child, or older. And I say this for whatever health concern the parents have called about.

Why Is It A Good Time?

a-smile-333604_960_720It is a good time because the child is so young. The health issue that the child is experiencing is not entrenched; they have not had it for a long period of time. Children have a very strong vital force/vitality and respond well to homeopathy.

It is a good time because the child may have just started using medications, or is not using them at all. These medications may help with the symptoms and ease the discomfort, the behavior, the breathing, the itching, but they are not really healing. (Some medications may be needed, and it is always important to monitor medications with one’s physician.)

It is a good time because the child is still growing and developing their bodies, their minds, and who they are as a person. As parents, we want the best for our children, in their health and in their life.

It is a good time because often when a child is doing better, it affects the whole family unit, healing the family.

It is a good time because – I have a soft spot for children. I guess this is my “because”.

What Do Parents Call About?

These are some of the health concerns parents have called me about:

  • ear aches and ear infections – the child may have been on several courses of antibiotic.
  • digestive issues, such as acid re flux, spitting up, stomachaches after eating, chronic diarrhea, difficulty eating certain foods, constant nausea
  • skin eruptions – eczema, warts, rashes
  • continually crying and seeming to be in pain or discomfort
  • breathing difficulties, such as asthma
  • difficultly focusing on school work
  • behavioral issues – angry outbursts, tantrums, pulling inside oneself by withdrawing
  • chronic coughs
  • menstrual issues – painful cramps, being very emotional and weepy
  • reactions to vaccinations
  • sleep issues – insomnia, nightmares
  • fears
  • just not feeling well

A SIMPLE EXAMPLE OF HOMEOPATHY – LIKE CURES LIKE

When someone has a cold or an allergy, their nose may be continually runny. Their eyes are  tearing, burning, and stinging. They want to rub their eyes to ease the discomfort. The homeopathic remedy Allium cepa, made from the red onion, can be very helpful for someone who is experiencing these types of symptoms, whether it is a cold or allergies.

Allium cepa is helpful because it is similar to what the person is experiencing. (LIKE CURES LIKE) When you think about what happens when you cut an onion, your eyes tear, burn and sting. And your nose runs. The crying isn’t like when you are sad, which is just tearing, but here, you want to rub and wipe your eyes.

HOMEOPATHY

Homeopathy is not a one size fits all form of medicine. It is always finding out about the person, and giving the homeopathic remedy that fits this person. This applies to someone who is experiencing behavioral issues, ear infections, digestive issues, menstrual issues, allergies, headaches, anything that bothers them.

It is always good to check with your physician. Homeopathy can be used alongside western medicine.

Repost: When A Child Runs A Fever

About a year ago, I wrote a blog post about children and fevers. I am reposting it here. We often feel frightened when a loved one is running a fever, and feel that we need to do something about it right away.

Fevers are part of our body’s innate healing process. There are homeopathic remedies that are helpful when someone has a fever.

Here is the post:

This weekend I was at a friend’s open house, and I was talking to a mom about her 2 year old little girl, Sarah, not her real name. Sarah was getting over being sick.  She had had a fever that ran more at night, than in the daytime. She had the fever for about 2 days, and it was pretty high. Sarah’s mom told me that this was the first time Sarah has been sick, and it was frightening to see her daughter run the fever and not feel well.

I commented to Sarah’s mom, that a fever is a good thing. It is the body’s way of healing. She agreed with me.

This is more of what I told Sarah’s mom:

Children often run higher fevers than adults do. With children, fevers, and other symptoms, come on quickly and suddenly, and seem to be very extreme; and, the fevers go away quickly and suddenly as well. This suddenness and extreme symptoms teddy-242868_960_720are a reflection of a STRONG vital force. It is a good sign. It is showing health. The body is doing what is does so well. The person doesn’t necessarily feel so good, but a fever is a good sign of health.

In comparison, someone who does not have a strong vital force, such as an older person or someone who has an ongoing chronic condition, may not run a fever at all, run a low fever, or run a fever on and off. And the illness may just drag on.

I added, that it is very common for children to run a fever at night, be fine the next day, playing and being active, and then run the fever again at night. Sarah’s mom said that is what had happened with Sarah, for two days.

I could tell that Sarah’s mom felt better hearing this. She seemed more relaxed, knowing that Sarah is healthy, and her body is  doing what a healthy body does.

*******

Sometimes, a person needs some help in their healing process. Homeopathy can be very helpful when someone is running a fever, has the flu, or has a cold. And if you are concerned when you or a loved one is running a fever, it is always good to check with your physician.

If I can be of any help, please contact me here on this blog, or through my website www.homeopathytoheal.com. I do see patients outside the San Diego area through the use of Skype, Whatsapp and Facetime.

Healing The Child, And The Whole Family With Homeopathy

I enjoy working with children and their families. Children respond very well to homeopathy. Their vital energy, vital force, chi is very strong. That is why you see that a child will often be suddenly ill, run higher fevers than adults do, and then are better, quickly. A child’s response moves fast, and sometimes seems to be extreme.

What I See In My Homeopathic Practice

In my practice, I have seen children for many different health concerns. Some of them are:

  • Various skin eruptions – eczema, vitiligo                                                                             child-looking-at-sea
  • Behavior issues that come from feeling angry, sad, fearful
  • Difficulty focusing
  • Chronic ear infections and earaches
  • On going cough
  • Digestive issues – stomachaches
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Headaches

With some of the children I have seen, I have thought that seeing the parents, or one of the parents, would be helpful for the child’s healing. The family is a whole and the members of the family make up this whole. What happens in the family, and to one of the members, can often influence and affect the family as a unit and its members, such as the child that has come for homeopathic treatment. Life happens. Some of these life happenings are:

  • The interactions between family members
  • The health history of the family members – present, and even going back a few generations
  • The cultural background and influences
  • The changes that the family has experienced, such as moving to a new country, a new state, a new school, a new job for a parent
  • The changes in the family unit itself, such as a separation/divorce, a death, a birth, a marriage.
  • The changes in living conditions – physically, environmentally, emotionally
  • The health of the family members – ongoing illness

A Family

A family to me is a group who consider themselves close. They may live together. They family-in-chalkmay not live together. The parents could be a mom and dad, two moms, two dads, one mom, one dad, a grandparent, a sibling, a friend, another relative. The child can be biological, adopted, be born by a surrogate mother. A family can be two people, and many, many more. An animal, a dog or a cat, can also be part of the family. A family is what the people themselves consider as their family.

Healing – The Child And The Family

I often see that as a child does better, in their health, the family does better too. And the same can be said that as the family does better, the child does better.
