A Quote, Talking About Deep Healing

In this blog post I am sharing a quote.

Quote

The quote is from George Vithoulkas. He is one of the leading homeopathic practitioners and teachers of homeopathy. He has written many books, one of them is THE SCIENCE OF HOMEOPATHY. He says: “The long-term benefit of homeopathy to the patient is that it not only alleviates the presenting symptoms but it reestablishes internal order at the deepest levels and thereby provides a lasting cure.”

As I wrote in my last blog post, homeopathy sees symptoms as signs and guides. Symptoms lead the homeopath to selecting the homeopathic remedy or remedies that will be needed to help heal. Homeopathy addresses the symptoms, eases them, AND addresses the “root” of why the symptoms are there. The root is the “deepest levels” that Vithoulkas is writing about in the aboveearth soil quote.

A healing at the root or the deepest levels, is healing where the symptoms or the health issue comes from. I like to say it is healing the soil of the person.

Very often someone has a health issue. They take a medication. The symptoms are gone, for a period of time, a few hours, a few days, a few months. They may be taking a medication every day, even. There is no healing of the health issue. It is still there, covered over, suppressed. The root has not been addressed. Symptoms that affect deeper parts and functioning of the body may develop. For example, this can happen with skin eruptions, such as with eczema. Someone uses a topical cortisone cream. The itching is relieved. The eruptions of the eczema are gone. Then the person starts to develop breathing difficulties or asthma. We see this a lot in children. The symptoms of the eczema are gone, the deeper levels and the root of the eczema were not addressed. In fact, it has been suppressed.

Healing can take time. I know we all want that magic pill, to feel better right away, and for the symptoms to be gone, and not to come back. True, deep healing is a process and takes time.

Homeopathy To Heal

I love what I do. It is challenging, rewarding, frustrating, ever learning, and so needed.

I receive calls and inquiries from people asking if homeopathy can help a health issue they are experiencing. Recently, these calls and inquiries have been about anxiety/depression, constipation, uterine fibroid, separating from their mother, strep throat, colds, coughs, intestinal cramping, menstrual issues, cracks in the nailbeds and more. What people contact me for is very varied, ranging from physical to mental to emotional issues. Actually, everything is connected. We are a totality.

If you or a loved one has a health issue, which continues to bother you, I encourage you to contact me here through this blog or through my website www.homeopathytoheal.com. I offer a complimentary 15+ minute Get Acquainted Call. I work with people of all ages, babies through older adults, for many different health issues. I work virtually and in person, in and out of the San Diego, California area.

My Skin Always Bothers Me

I have had several patients come in for homeopathic care recently who are experiencing a skin eruption. For one, it is eczema, which they have experienced all of their life. For another it is vitiligo (leucoderma), a condition where white patches appear on the skin, especially after the skin has been bruised or scratched. Another person has bumps and rashes on the skin. And another has Hand, Foot and Mouth disease (Coxsackie Virus).

These patients are of all ages, ranging from young children to older adults. 3-handsAll of them have experienced an ongoing skin discomfort, for either a short time or for a good part of their lives.

Wanting To Get Relief

Most of the time, a skin eruption is very uncomfortable in some way. It is very itchy. It can be red and inflamed. It may ooze and/or bleed. It is painful. The person wants to scratch it, constantly. He may not want others to see it, feeling very embarrassed about it. And scarring may occur, affecting the texture/smoothness and tone of the skin. It seems to be ongoing, with some relief sometimes, but it is always there in some way.

People do many things to take care of their skin, wanting relief. They use creams, watch or change the foods they eat, try to monitor their stress levels, and keep the area as clean as possible. Cortisone creams are often proscribed. These creams may give relief, but they are not truly healing, and are in fact very suppressive. The skin may be better, but the person may develop other health issues, such as breathing difficulties or asthma, muscular pains, and other complaints.

(Suppression. The dictionary defines the verb suppress as “to put down by authority or force” and to “subdue”. And a suppressant is defined as “an agent (as a drug) that tends to suppress rather than eliminate something”.)

Healing The Whole Person

The skin eruption is not a separate issue; it is part of the whole picture. It is a reflection of a deeper systemic condition in the person. We hear the expression – “it is only skin deep”. That really is not true with skin issues; it is deeper than the skin. That is why using topical creams does not heal at the root core or cause of where the skin eruption is coming from. .

As each of the patients I mentioned above talked about having skin eruptions, I heard how it felt – itchy, burning, hot, and inflamed. I heard how they responded to the discomfort – wanting to rub it against something, scratching it till it bled. I heard what happened to the area – becoming infected, becoming a lighter skin tone once healed. I heard what made it better and what made it worse. As they told me these things, I was paying attention to the words and language they used, to the hand gestures and the body movements they made. They talked about other things bothering them as well. The young child wanted to be comforted more than usual. The school aged child wondered what his classmates thought if he made a mistake in class. The older person had a deep concern and desire to help other people. And more.

All of this – the skin, how they talked, how they responded to things happening in their life – are the pieces of the puzzle that fit together to make the whole picture of them. The given homeopathic remedy was similar and matched this wholeness, stimulating the person’s innate healing abilities.

If you have a skin issue that is always bothering you, I invite you to see how healing homeopathy can be for you. You can contact me here on the blog or through my website www.homeopathytoheal.com. I would be happy to talk with you.
