I Enjoy Working With Families – Helping Them With Homeopathy

In my homeopathic practice, I often work with families, seeing several people in the family: the children and one or both of the parents, or a grandparent. I really enjoy working with families, and getting to know them.  Recently, a friend said to me that working with families may be my niche. I do see individuals too,

Healing – The Family

Usually it is one of the children who starts, and as they are doing better, a sibling, a parent, or another family member starts to come in for homeopathic care. By working family 3with the different members of the family, I see the interactions, the similarities, the differences, and history of the family. Just as each of us are a whole, and the symptoms we experience make up our whole, the family is the whole, and each member of the family is part of this whole.

When a family member, who was not doing well and in some ways was the center of attention for the whole family, starts to do better in their health, other family members can now pay attention to themselves. It is as if the other family members were holding back, focusing so much on the one family member that needed so much, and now the other family members could focus on themselves, their needs, and their health.

Health Concerns Family Members Experience

These are some of the health concerns that members of a family have come to homeopathy for:

  • pains in the abdomen before menses
  • chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia
  • difficulty with vision
  • tantrums, acting out
  • fears
  • sleep difficulties
  • earaches, congestion, fevers, coughs
  • broken bones, fractures
  • skin eruptions and skin feeling very sensitive
  • breathing difficulties – asthma
  • epilepsy
  • depression and anxiety
  • digestive issues
  • reaction to a vaccine
  • menstrual issues – menopause
  • sore throats
  • teething
  • feeling very chilled

Usually, it is a chronic condition that brings the first family member into homeopathy. Then another family member comes in for a chronic, an acute or first aid concern. becomes part of their health care resources, along with western medicine, chiropractic, acupuncture, massage, therapy and other modalities.

Families

A family is any group of people that live together, or not, that love, family rainbowrespect, honor, nurture, and accept each other. A family doesn’t have to be a mom and a dad and children. It can be two moms, two dads, one mom and children, one mom and dogs or cats, a grandparent and aunt and children, and also people who are not related by blood. A family is a group of people who have a closeness and love for each other.

Are You Experiencing Lingering Effects From A Trauma?

I have written  about traumas before, and have talked about the use of the homeopathic remedy Arnica Montana in many of my posts when there has been a trauma.

Recently, when I was with a friend, we were talking about traumas, physical and emotional ones. And that often there can be lingering effects from the trauma, such as a person having chronic pain, flare up of certain symptoms, feeling emotionally  distressed, regressing in behaviors and development, and more.

Traumas

A trauma can be physical and emotional. Some physical traumas can be from surgeries, giving birth, falls, vaccine reactions, accidents, and experiencing a down and outnatural disaster. Some emotional traumas could be the loss of a loved one through death, an illness, or a divorce; the experience of war; the experience of abuse, emotionally and physically; the experience of loss of a job or home; being in a natural disaster; and exposure to toxins in the air, water, soil, or environment.

(I have natural disasters in both categories. We are seeing more of them occurring.)

The person may have sought out help at the time of the trauma or soon afterwards,  and may have also used homeopathy.  The trauma may have been looked at as a first aid situation, looking at taking care of what has happening at that present time. And the help that the person received was beneficial to them. Yet, for some people there may be a lingering from the trauma, showing up in physical symptoms, emotional states of anxiety, fear, sadness or depression, or a feeling of just not being well.  The person may even say, I have not been well since “this” happened.

When I meet with a patient, I often ask what was going on when this (the symptoms or state of not being well) started.  In a way, I am looking for a cause. A cause in the sense that this may be the initiator, the start, to why they are not feeling well.

In My Practice

These are some of the traumas, and lingering states I have seen in my practice:

  • a woman who had two c-sections. A lot of scar tissue developed, and she experienced a lot of pain and discomfort during her menstrual cycle.
  • a concussion from a car accident. The woman experienced vertigo and difficulty focusing and the use of computers was very difficult for her.
  • a woman who was exposed to toxins after being in an area where there had been fires.
  • a boy who had reactions to vaccines.
  • a woman who lost her her husband, and was deeply grieving.
  • a man who hasn’t been well since having the flu.

Healing

In a lot of circumstances, healing takes time. We don’t always want to hear that it takes time. We want to feel better right now.  We don’t like to not feel well.

When we experience a trauma, it may affect us on many levels, and it may also bring up states and feelings we had experienced in the past. We may use different healing modalities to help us, such as homeopathy, message, acupuncture, Chinese medicine, energy body work, therapy, chiropractic, western medicine and more. The healing is a process, and in some ways it can be a deep learning experience about ourselves.
