Moms

Moms.

I was introduced to homeopathy years ago, when I was part of a La Leche League play group with my sons. La Leche League is a breastfeeding support organization. Some of the moms of the playgroup talked about homeopathy. I had never heard of homeopathy. I thought what is this! I started to do some reading and attended some classes locally. Three years later, I enrolled in a program that was in Devon, England – The School of Homeopathy. The school still exists, but is located in a different part of  England. I was a mom who wanted to know more about homeopathy. I wanted to learn.

Moms are the advocates of their family’s health, whether for their children, their partners, their parents, their extended family, theirmotherhood-7114294_960_720 friends, their pets and themselves. A father too may be the mom of the family, or an aunt, or a good friend or some other relationship. I am including all those relationships into one, and calling them mom, the mom of the family.

Moms are usually my contact person for whoever the patient is in the family. They are the ones who call me initially. They know when their families are well, and not well. They know if something has changed with a family member. They are good observers. They know. They sense. They are aware. They may not know what is wrong or bothering the family member, specifically, but they know something is not right.

When sensing that something is not quite right with a family member, moms will seek out health care for that person. Moms may do research to see what choices they have, perhaps ones that they may have not known of before. They may ask other moms what they know, and who they know who could help. When homeopathy has helped a family member, which often is a child, the mom will continue to use homeopathy, bringing other family members in for homeopathic care and also telling their friends. They will be spreading homeopathy to the world, to their own world.

During the case taking with the patient, moms are helpful in giving their observations and knowledge of the patient. They will voice what they have noticed has changed. They will express their observations. Their information helps in knowing more about the particular family member who has come in for homeopathic care.

I feel very grateful for moms. A big thank to you all.

Flu And Seasonal Illnesses

We are starting the flu season and are hearing of other illnesses that are going around. Homeopathy can be very helpful if someone comes down with the flu, the coronavirus and other illnesses, including difficulty breathing. To know, it is okay to be sick. I often say that when we are sick, it is our body telling us, or rather forcing us, to rest and slow down.

With it being the holiday season we are busier than usual. We may experience many different emotions about the holiday season. We may have expectations about how the holidays need to be, and how we need to be. We are exposed to more people than usual, through socializing and traveling. We are doing and feeling more at this time of the year.

I have written several posts about the flu and homeopathy over the years. Here is a link to one of those posts. The Flu -What To Do? Homeopathy Can Help.

During this time of the year, take the time to take care of and for yourself. Listen to what you need. I specifically say this to moms, take that time.

Women Taking Care Of Themselves, With Homeopathy

This post is about women, about women of all ages taking care of themselves. So often, women, and especially moms, don’t really take care of themselves. As I used to say when my sons were younger, I wasn’t even on the list.

Women are so busy taking care of their family members, friends and coworkers, and not always themselves. I have previously written a blog post about caregivers, and another blog post about moms being my ideal patient , which you may want to read. The post on moms, talks about how they are the hub, the center of the family, making sure everyone is taken care of. Now it is time for moms, for all women, young, old, middle-aged to take care of themselves.

Some Of The Women I Have Seen

In my practice, I have seen women of all ages and for various health concerns. There usually is some specific reason that has brought the woman in to see me – a physical complaint, an emotional issue, an ongoing health concern. In addition to this specific reason, there is her, the woman, and how she responds and feels on all levels (physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually) to what has happened in her life. Homeopathy addresses the whole of her. Through listening, observing, and understanding what is at the core of what is bothering her, a homeopathic remedy is given that is similar to what she is experiencing, to the totality of her. The homeopathic remedy stimulates her own healing process, strengthening her vital force or immune system, healing the specific reason why she came in, and also healing the totality of her.

Here is a little bit about some of the woman who have come in to see me for homeopathic care. Please know there is more to each of these women than what I have written here.

– a 19-year-old, who has very heavy periods, with severe cramping.                                                                                          grandma-612016_640

–  a woman going through menopause, who has hot flashes at night, making it difficult for her to sleep and then not feeling rested the next day at work. Having very emotional responses to experiences and situations in her life. Crying more.

– a woman in her 60’s who has had migraines for most of her life. Still having them after going through menopause.

– a woman figuring out what to do with her life. Has depressive types of thoughts. Taking care of her family. Asking herself, what can I do?

young girl–  a woman who is very involved in the workings of her family’s business. Experiences severe arthritic type pains in her hands, that she describes as a squeezing sensation. Has these pains more often when she is cleaning, using water. Very concerned on how the house is kept.

–  a woman who experiences discomfort when having sexual relations with her husband. She is not really happy in the relationship.

–  a woman who always has had someone helping her. Now she is a widow, and learning how to take care of herself, along with going through grieving for her husband.

– a young girl who has trouble sleeping, experiencing nightmares that keep her awake. During the day she is very irritable.

Some Of The Health Concerns Women Experience

Below is what may have brought the woman in for homeopathic care. Nothing is in isolation, as my teachers have said. Symptoms are not treated separately. It is the totality of the woman who is addressed, and the totality heals.

  • menstrual issues – cramps, PMS, bloating, headaches, late periods, heavy flow, clots, perimenopause, menopause, hot flashes, insomnia, other symptoms related that may come up or are exasperated during the menstrual cycle
  • digestive issues – bloating, constipation, diarrhea, food allergies and sensitivities, irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn’s disease
  • sleep issues – insomnia, frequent waking, difficulty falling asleep, nightmares
  • pain – muscular, arthritic, nerve, acute or chronic, from an old injury
  • headaches – migraines, allergies, seasonal
  • anxiety, depression, ongoing grief, fears, phobias, focusing issues, memory issues
  • skin eruptions – eczema, psoriasis, acne, rosacea, warts
  • respiratory – asthma, shortness of breath
  • emotional states – sadness, anger, outbursts
  • autoimmune illnesses – chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, polymyalgia
  • what is bothering you?

An observation: it may be that we women always have a cycle. Whether we are actually menstruating, or not menstruating. Whether we are pregnant, or have gone through menopause. This “cycle” time may be when a symptom, a feeling, a thought, a state of being, a health concern, or what bothers us, is more prevalent or more intense than usual.

My Ideal Patient For Homeopathy Is Mom

The other day I was thinking of who my ideal patient is in my homeopathic practice. And it is a mom. She is usually holistically minded. She may have done some reading in holistic health, and on homeopathy. She wants for herself momsand her family members to experience a long lasting healing for whatever health concern they may have. She doesn’t want her family to be taking ongoing medications that don’t help or heal. And she doesn’t want them to be experiencing any  side effects. She wants a healing for her family and for herself.

The mom may need to talk to her husband or partner, educating them on the benefits of holistic health, on homeopathy. Sometimes she may feel that she needs to use allopathic medicine (western medicine) for a health concern. For me as a practitioner of homeopathy, I tell moms that if they do use, let’s say antibiotics, we can still continue doing homeopathy. I don’t want the mom to feel she needs to choose between allopathic  and homeopathic medicine in some instances.

Health Concerns

The following are some health concerns that the family may experience. Although, they are listed by mother, father and children, some of the health concerns can affect either age or sex.

Some of the health concerns a mom may have for herself: menstrual issues, menopause, anxiety, depression, insomnia, digestive issues, headaches and migraines, fibromyalgia,  skin eruptions, chronic fatigue.

For her children: behavioral issues, eczema, asthma, other skin eruptions, on going coughs, stomach aches, chronic ear infections and colds, nightmares, fears, difficulty sleeping, childhood diseases.

And for her husband: men’s issues, lack of confidence, headaches, insomnia, performance issues in different areas, skin eruptions, arthritis, injuries, flus.

Moms

I have seen all sorts of moms. A new mom who wants to know how to help her young baby develop immunity.  A grandmother who has brought in her grand children for behavioral issues. A mom who is concerned about her teenaged son who has skin eruptions. A mom whose 7 year old son has an ongoing cough, or has a teenage daughter who has difficult periods. And a mom calling about her mother. Most of the time, the mom is the gateway to the family’s health. All sorts of moms, from a new mom to a grandmother, and all the moms in between.  A mom brings herself, she brings her children, she brings her grandchildren, she brings her husband/partner, and other family members.

Please know that dads can be the mom too.

So moms out there, and dads, educate yourself on homeopathy, and see how it can be of help for you and for your family’s health care.

If I can be of any help for you and/or your family, please contact me here by leaving a comment or through my website www.homeopathytoheal.com  I offer a 15+ minute complimentary Get Acquainted Phone Call.
