We as women go through a cycle in our lifetime, our reproductive cycle. Starting with menstruation, having a period and being fertile, giving birth, breastfeeding, starting to go through menopause, and then after menopause.
The cycle is a whole. Each stage a woman goes through is part of this whole. It is all connected. How a woman was during puberty or what her periods are like, may be informative to how menopause will be for her. Getting a thorough history of the woman is important.
Very often, I hear from women that they are taking some form of hormones, whether it is hormonal replacement therapy (HRT), or thyroid medications. There are changes in a woman’s hormones as she goes through the reproductive stages. These hormonal changes can affect other parts and functioning of the woman’s body, and her emotional and mental state.
Homeopathy can be used along with western medicine, such as HRT and thyroid medications. Homeopathy can be a part of a woman’s ongoing health care.
These are some of the health concerns women may experience during this cycle – puberty thru after menopause.
arthritis type symptoms
concern about osteoporosis
a difficult labor and birth – c section
fertility issues – not able to get pregnant, miscarriages
loss or trauma in your life – emotional, physical, a surgical procedure, accident, fall
change in libido
lingering affects from a trauma

Tip: Although this is not homeopathy, a suggestion if you are using Magnesium as a supplement, perhaps to help in falling asleep or for cramping. Dissolving the Magnesium pill in water. Drinking the water may be an easier way of taking this supplement. I personally have a hard time swallowing the rather larger Magnesium pill.
There is this cycle that I talk about, the menstrual cycle, but there is also the cycle of life – the cycle of living. I am specifically referring to the roles and the relationships that women have in their lives. Daughter, friend, partner, girlfriend, wife, co – worker, colleague, lover, mentor, mother, aunt, niece, cousin, grandmother, citizen, teammate, self and more.
We may often put someone before ourselves, taking care of them, making sure they are alright, and perhaps, not taking care of ourselves as best as we could. Or we may not listen to what we feel and know would be the right thing for ourselves, or for a loved one. For example:
A woman who has a young family. She experiences headaches that often come before her period starts. The headaches could be related to her menstrual cycle. She just lives with the headaches, doing the best she can. By taking care of herself, she will be taking care of her family.
A woman who really is the foundation for her entire family members – children, grandchildren, husband, the people she works with, and her friends. When she doesn’t feel well, she is still taking care of others, becoming worn out and sick.
A woman who has menstrual difficulties, but feels there isn’t the time, or maybe the money, to spend on herself. Her children have health issues, and she needs to spend the time and the money on them.
A young career woman who is very successful and hard working, does not particularly like her job. She has this ongoing health concern that is not getting any better.
A woman who is very involved with her family and her business. She often feels run down and tired, needing to take the time to rest, the time to refuel, so she can continue to be all that she is to others.
A woman who has a concern about her child. He is having difficulties in school. She intuitively knows that he needs some help, homeopathy perhaps, but because of time, of other people’s opinions she may not pursue what she feels will be healing for her son.
A young mother who doesn’t feel well during her period, uses an over the counter medication to help her through it. This helps her, for this particular time. When she has her period again, the same feelings of not being well occur. The over the counter treatment is not a long lasting healing.
Put The Oxygen Mask On You First
We always hear when we are on an airplane that those who are traveling with young children need to put their oxygen mask on themselves first, before putting it on the child. This applies here, but we don’t do it so readily. I think it is hard for women to think of themselves first, and to care for themselves, first. I know when my two sons were young, I would say I wasn’t even on the list, the list of things to do and to take care of. And I have to admit, my two grown sons still come first before me.
Experiencing A Shift
For some of the stories I write about here, the women may be better once there is a change to their situations. But we don’t often change our lives just like that. When there is a healing of the physical, the emotional, or the mental complaint, there is also a shift in the person. They begin to look at their lives and themselves differently. It is as though, they are looking from a different angle or with a different set of eyes. Their reality has now changed. Then, they can make changes in their lives, such as: taking time for themselves, changing jobs, doing work that they love, leaving a marriage or a relationship that is abusive, being open to more positive relationships with others, speaking up, listening to their intuition, and more. This is what a healing with homeopathy can do.

Over the years, I have seen women of all ages – young girls to women in their 80’s – for various health concerns. I have observed that for a lot of these women, the complaint that brought them in for homeopathic care, was related to their cycle in some way. For instance:
Their complaint was worse during their menstrual cycle.
Their complaint began when they started or ended having a menstrual period – puberty or menopause. (Very often, I have heard from a woman that her complaint started when she was going through puberty.)
Their complaint was in response to using birth control medication. (Birth control changes the hormonal balance in a woman’s body.)
Their complaint may be exasperated during pregnancy.
From this, I observed that a woman’s cycle – her monthly cycle, the hormonal changes she experiences, the cycle of reproduction – is very important, and very much part of her case when having homeopathic care. In this cycle, there are changes that occur to her body, to her reproductive life, to her emotional life, and to her mental life. These responses and changes are all important.
Some Of The Women I have Seen
1. A woman in her 20’s, who experienced severe cramping during her menstrual cycle. She had considered using birth control medication to ease the pain and the discomfort. But she had decided to use homeopathy instead.
2. A woman who had used birth control medication since her teenage years, decided not to use it anymore. After stopping the birth control, a skin eruption developed in her groin area, which was extremely uncomfortable. Over a year or two, she saw several different doctors of different specialties for help. The treatments that were given did not help in the long run. She decided to seek out homeopathic care. With a healing from homeopathy, the skin eruptions subsided and disappeared.
3. A woman who was planning to have another child, came to homeopathy for help for a particular on going health concern. She was taking daily medication for this concern, but did not want to increase the medication in a future pregnancy, as she had had to do in an earlier pregnancy. With homeopathy, the remedy not only helped with the health concern, but also helped with morning sickness, and when she became ill during the pregnancy, such as with a cold, cough and flu symptoms.
4. A woman in her early 50’s was experiencing hot flashes at night and during the day. She would wake frequently during the night, which affected how she felt during the day – a feeling of not been rested. She also felt very emotional and would easily come to tears. This would happen often at work. Her menstrual cycle was becoming less regular. Homeopathy helped with the hot flashes. She felt more rested and was calmer emotionally.
5. A woman who experienced vaginal dryness and pain while having sexual relations with her husband came for homeopathic treatment. She was very unhappy in her marriage. With the healing from the homeopathic remedy that was similar to her (Like Cures Like), she was able to make changes in her life that led to a more fulfilling life.
6. An older woman who was experiencing a lot of fatigue, found it difficult to do her daily activities. With the homeopathy remedy that fit her, her energy returned.
7. A woman who experienced headaches very frequently, noticed that the headaches were worse right before she started her period. At these times, she became quite incapacitated, making it difficult to take care of her children. With homeopathy, the headaches decreased, and she was able to be fully involved with her families activities.
8. A woman had started homeopathic care, from which she felt calmer and was better able to manage her life and her business. She became pregnant soon afterwards. The homeopathic remedy continued to help her through her pregnancy, especially when she was experiencing morning sickness.
Homeopathy To Heal
Homeopathy is truly a holistic form of medicine. A woman’s cycle is a very important part of her whole being. Homeopathy is helpful for a woman at whatever age she is, and for whatever part of the cycle she may be experiencing some difficulties – puberty, menstrual issues, fertility issues, pregnancy, during the birth, postpartum, menopause, and her life after that.
If you, or a woman that you love, are experiencing an ongoing health concern, I invite you to contact me, to see how homeopathy can be of help to you, or to her. Either contact me here on this blog, or through my website www.homeopathytoheal.com.
I write so much about women and children in my blog posts. I thought it would be good to write specifically about men, and how homeopathy has helped men in their health.
The inspiration to write this post came from a very short conversation I had with a man at a meeting I attended several weeks ago. I had mentioned to him that I had written a blog post recently saying that women don’t put themselves on the list; that women are busy taking care of others and don’t take care of themselves. He said that women DO take care of themselves. They are always taking care of themselves. It is men who don’t take care of themselves. I asked, why? Why don’t men take care of themselves? Because of weakness. They don’t want to appear weak, he said. Another man, who I spoke to recently, said that men don’t take care of themselves until there is something big. It is interesting to me to hear this.
Men Do Come In For Homeopathy
I do see men in my practice. Perhaps for some of these men, young and old, their coming in was from the urgings of their mother, girlfriend, wife, child, or partner. That may be so, but some men did come in on their own. There was always something in particular that was bothering each of the men, whether a physical complaint, an emotional complaint, a behavioral complaint, a work compliant or something else. This complaint was our start, where we began during the homeopathic consultation. I would want to hear more of what this complaint was like for this man, how he experienced it, along with hearing about his dreams, what he likes to do, what his work is like, his fears, how he handles stress, and more.
Homeopathy looks at each person as an individual, and looks at the whole of this individual. A homeopathic remedy that is similar to all of this, is selected. This homeopathic remedy stimulates the man’s own healing process; it promotes a self-healing. The complaint that brought the man in is better, and he is better in himself, handling what happens in his life in a more constructive way.
Some Of My Patients
Here are a few of the men I have seen in my homeopathic practice. I write what brought them in, but there is more to each of their cases than what I have written here.
– a man in his 60’s who experienced unbearable and ongoing itching from a rash in his groin area.
– a teenage boy who experienced seizures very often.
– a 50-year-old man who had chronic colds, and nasal congestion. He was taking antibiotic after antibiotics for these colds.
– a man who had rosacea on his face. He worked physically close to people as a practitioner, and was concerned how his appearance appeared to his patients.
– a man in his 20’s who had eczema on his arms. He too was concerned how others viewed him. He covered up his arms most of the time.
– a man who suffered from PTSD after serving in Iraq. He had difficulty sleeping. He would have angry outbursts very often, and would confront other people in a very angry way.
– a 51-year-old man who had sinus infections with the sensation of a plug in his nose. He was afraid that he was losing his job, and would have to start all over again.
– a 50ish man. He described having the feeling of entrapment in his life,. He had difficulty breathing and shortness of breath. He was concerned about what will happen to his aging parents and his children. He said, he had a general lack of well-being.
– a 15-year old teenager who had panic attacks.
Other Health Issues
The following is a list of some health issues that a man may be experiencing.
urinary and bladder infections, painful or difficult urination
muscular aches and pain
memory loss, loss of concentration, restlessness
not recovered from an injury
just not feeling well
what is bothering you

This post is about women, about women of all ages taking care of themselves. So often, women, and especially moms, don’t really take care of themselves. As I used to say when my sons were younger, I wasn’t even on the list.
Women are so busy taking care of their family members, friends and coworkers, and not always themselves. I have previously written a blog post about caregivers, and another blog post about moms being my ideal patient , which you may want to read. The post on moms, talks about how they are the hub, the center of the family, making sure everyone is taken care of. Now it is time for moms, for all women, young, old, middle-aged to take care of themselves.
Some Of The Women I Have Seen
In my practice, I have seen women of all ages and for various health concerns. There usually is some specific reason that has brought the woman in to see me – a physical complaint, an emotional issue, an ongoing health concern. In addition to this specific reason, there is her, the woman, and how she responds and feels on all levels (physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually) to what has happened in her life. Homeopathy addresses the whole of her. Through listening, observing, and understanding what is at the core of what is bothering her, a homeopathic remedy is given that is similar to what she is experiencing, to the totality of her. The homeopathic remedy stimulates her own healing process, strengthening her vital force or immune system, healing the specific reason why she came in, and also healing the totality of her.
Here is a little bit about some of the woman who have come in to see me for homeopathic care. Please know there is more to each of these women than what I have written here.
– a 19-year-old, who has very heavy periods, with severe cramping.
– a woman going through menopause, who has hot flashes at night, making it difficult for her to sleep and then not feeling rested the next day at work. Having very emotional responses to experiences and situations in her life. Crying more.
– a woman in her 60’s who has had migraines for most of her life. Still having them after going through menopause.
– a woman figuring out what to do with her life. Has depressive types of thoughts. Taking care of her family. Asking herself, what can I do?
– a woman who is very involved in the workings of her family’s business. Experiences severe arthritic type pains in her hands, that she describes as a squeezing sensation. Has these pains more often when she is cleaning, using water. Very concerned on how the house is kept.
– a woman who experiences discomfort when having sexual relations with her husband. She is not really happy in the relationship.
– a woman who always has had someone helping her. Now she is a widow, and learning how to take care of herself, along with going through grieving for her husband.
– a young girl who has trouble sleeping, experiencing nightmares that keep her awake. During the day she is very irritable.
Some Of The Health Concerns Women Experience
Below is what may have brought the woman in for homeopathic care. Nothing is in isolation, as my teachers have said. Symptoms are not treated separately. It is the totality of the woman who is addressed, and the totality heals.
menstrual issues – cramps, PMS, bloating, headaches, late periods, heavy flow, clots, perimenopause, menopause, hot flashes, insomnia, other symptoms related that may come up or are exasperated during the menstrual cycle
An observation: it may be that we women always have a cycle. Whether we are actually menstruating, or not menstruating. Whether we are pregnant, or have gone through menopause. This “cycle” time may be when a symptom, a feeling, a thought, a state of being, a health concern, or what bothers us, is more prevalent or more intense than usual.
Healing With Homeopathy

Recently, I spoke to a woman who has been constantly tired. She said that this all started after she had a very bad fall. She hasn’t been well since, she said.
Many times, people may not be well after they have had some kind of physical trauma or emotional loss or upset. Specifically, physical traumas are anything that has happened to the body, or changes to the body, such as: a surgery, a fall, a high fever, a course(s) of antibiotics, an infection, a pregnancy, a miscarriage, the flu, vaccinations, puberty, and menopause. An emotional trauma could be a loss of a loved one, a big disappointment, a divorce, a geographical move, a loss of a job, mistreatment, a war experience, and sexual abuse. There may be other types of traumas that I have not mentioned.
Never well since means that the person has not been well since that particular trauma occurred. The person may have dealt with the trauma, and that was no longer an issue or concern, but they may have developed a particular physical, emotional or mental symptom or a health condition after this. Now this is their main concern, and they are not feeling well.
Some of these health concerns could be: prolonged headaches, digestive issues, autoimmune diseases, depression, anxiety, hormonal imbalances, women’s issues, men’s issues, difficulty breathing, skin eruptions, eczema, hair loss, chronic fatigue, insomnia or other sleep disturbances, nightmares, phobias, fears, post traumatic syndrome, just not feeling well, and more.
The person may have seen doctors or other health professionals for help, such as the woman who called me, yet they are still not feeling well. This is a good time to come to homeopathy.
Homeopathy looks at the whole person, knowing that all the parts of the person are interconnected. This includes the prolonged response to the trauma that the person is experiencing – the never well since. Through the understanding of what the person is experiencing in their health concern, the homeopathic practitioner (homeopath) selects a homeopathic remedy that is similar to their suffering. The main principle of homeopathy is the Law or Similars or Like Cures Like. Each person is unique in how they experience their symptoms and health concerns. The given homeopathic remedy stimulates the person’s own healing process, and the person starts to feel better.
Homeopathy is gentle in its healing and there are no side effects. It heals at the root of what is bothering the person. The person then is feeling better, and the never been well since is also healed.
The Society of Homeopaths is an organization that represents professional homeopaths in the UK. In their online publication, an article is written about the success of homeopathy in healing patients experiencing various health concerns. The evaluation of the patients took place at the Bristol Homeopathic Hospital. Patients were both children and adults. Some of the health concerns that these patients experienced were: eczema, asthma, inflammatory bowel diseases, irritable bowel syndrome, menopausal issues, arthritis, migraines, depression and chronic fatigue.
It is good to have a study showing how wonderful homeopathy heals. There is a need for homeopathy.
Homeopathy treats the person, not the disease. Two people who experience asthmatic symptoms would not need the same homeopathic remedy. Each person is given a homeopathic remedy that is similar to what they are experiencing. The Law of Similars or Like Cures Like is one of the main principles of homeopathy. General symptoms of asthma may be experienced by each person, such as difficulty breathing, but underneath and at the core, each person experiences the asthma uniquely to them. By understanding each person’s suffering, the homeopath gives the homeopathic remedy that is most similar to that person, that stimulates the person’s own healing.
There are many people of all ages, young children to older adults, men and women, who experience ongoing, chronic conditions in which flare ups and episodes occur fairly often. They may be using some form of medication to help ease, to palliate, and to alleviate the symptoms. The medication may help them feel better, for a period of time, but there is no real healing. Homeopathy can be extremely helpful for these types of health conditions, promoting a deep healing.
The October 21st, 2013 post on The National Center for Homeopathy’s Facebook page writes specifically about the medication predinsone and auto-immune illnesses. What is written in this post can be applied to any form of chronic illness in which medication is used to palliate symptoms. I have included the post here for you to read. (If you would like to see the NCH’s Facebook page yourself, google “The National Center for Homeopathy, October 21st”. Click on NCH’s Facebook page, scroll down to October 21st.) The National Center for Homeopathy is a great resource for homeopathy: finding a homeopathic practitioner, learning more about homeopathy, and being updated about what is happening in the homeopathic community.
“Predinsone is a steroidal drug commonly proscribed for fibromyalgia, allergies, skin eruptions, arthritis, asthma and many other auto-immune disorders. Side effects are many, dangerous and have been well known since they (steroidal drugs) were first introduced in the 1950’s.
For those with chronic illnesses, these corticosteroids can only suppress symptoms and never actually cure these inflammatory problems because they never address the reasons WHY you are experiencing continual inflammation.
Homeopathy is a wonderfully safe and helpful alternative to steriodal drugs. If you suffer from chronic acute problems for which your physician wants to prescribe this class of drugs, consider talking to a well trained homeopath to learn of better and FAR safer homeopathic options.”
Homeopathy treats and heals the whole person. There is usually something specific that brings a person in to see the homeopath. The health concern could be one of those listed above. In the homeopathic consultation, this health concern is explored in depth – what it is like for the person, how it affects them, the sensation of it and more. Other areas, aspects, and symptoms of the person are also explored in depth. For example, one aspect is how the person responds and reacts to stress. When you think about it, there are particular responses and reactions each of us experience that are unique to us when we are feeling stressed. At these times, this could be when the flare ups of the health concern are more prevalent. These responses and reactions could be difficulty sleeping, change in eating habits, particular thoughts and feelings, particular behaviors, and other physical responses and sensations. All of this gives a picture of the state of the person.
It is the whole of the person that is being treated in homeopathy. Everything is connected. Each part is not in isolation from the rest; it is part of the whole. Homeopathy is treating the person, the whole person.
What is your suffering? Do you or a loved one have a chronic condition? Are you taking medication for it and not feeling any better? Are you concerned about the side effects from the medication? It may be time to see how homeopathy can help you. Talk to a trained classical homeopath to find out more.
To add: it is always important to have your medical doctor manage and supervise any changes in the dosage of the medication, whether it is to decrease, increase or wean off of it.
