Our society has the medication paradigm that if you have a symptom, a pain, a health concern take a medication, take a pill. So it is very common for people who are new to homeopathy to think that instead of taking medication, I will take a homeopathic remedy. Have a headache, take a homeopathic remedy; difficulty sleeping, take a homeopathic remedy to help them sleep; having continual indigestion, take a homeopathic remedy. They are replacing the homeopathic remedy for a pill. I was of this thinking as well, when I first was learning about homeopathy 22 year ago. It is very common. But this is not homeopathy. This is using homeopathy in an allopathic way. The thinking is that instead of using western medication for their headache, sleeping difficulties, indigestion, they will use something “natural” instead.
Homeopathic remedies are in pellet form.
In homeopathy, the symptoms are the guideposts and signs that help lead to the choose of the homeopathic remedy that addresses the whole person. Through understanding the suffering of the person, a homeopathic remedy is selected that is similar to that person. This is the Law of Similars or Like Cures Like. Homeopathy is a wholistic form of medicine – looking at the symptoms as part of the totality of the person. Just giving a remedy for one symptom is not homeopathy.
If there is an ongoing chronic condition, such as headaches, insomnia, digestive difficulties, and you the reader are looking for a homeopathic remedy to help, I would suggest that you see a homeopath rather than treating yourself by using homeopathy in an allopathic way. A homeopath will take the time to look/observe/understand the totality of what bothers you, including that chronic condition, and then select a homeopathic remedy that is similar to what you are suffering. The homeopathic remedy addresses the totality of you, and stimulates a deep healing.
I am always happy to talk to people, and to answer any questions they may have about homeopathy and their health.
