So Many Changes During Pregnancy, What To Do? Homeopathy Helps

I was happy to work with a woman over this past year as she went through her pregnancy. She started having homeopathic care before she was pregnant, continued during her pregnancy, and now after the birth of her baby. And I have a good friend who is pregnant, who is also receiving homeopathic care.

So Many Changes

With the women I have worked with during pregnancy, they initially came for homeopathic care before they were pregnant. They came for a specific reason, something that bothered them. They said also, that they were wanting and planning on becoming  baby-feet-1527456__340pregnant very soon, and in a way, they were coming to homeopathy to help get pregnant.

When they did become pregnant, we continued with the homeopathic remedy. As they moved through their pregnancy, other conditions, symptoms, or states came up. When this happened, and the homeopathic remedy that we were using did not help, another homeopathic remedy was given that addressed what the woman was now experiencing.

This happened several times over the course of my patient’s pregnancy; she needed several different homeopathic remedies. And my friend has also said that she too has needed several different homeopathic remedies. As always, the homeopathic remedy is similar to what the person is experiencing. As a woman goes through her pregnancy, the birth, the afterbirth, and being a mom to this new baby, she may need a different homeopathic remedy that fits her state.

These are some of the changes that may be experienced:

  • morning sickness – nausea, headache
  • becoming sick with a cold, flu, cough
  • specific food cravings – sugar, worse from eating sugary foods
  • fatigue
  • heart palpitations and heart fluterings
  • overly sensitive to odors, environment, foods
  • unable to get comfortable
  • position of the baby
  • anxiety
  • being very emotional
  • exhaustion, and bruising from the birth
  • postpartum – depression, overwhelmed, body changes, new responsibilities

Homeopathy Helps The Mother And The Baby

It is a good time for a woman to come to homeopathy before she is pregnant. She is getting care for herself, and creating a healthy “soil” in which the baby will grow. (Homeopathy is earth soilhelpful for the dad as well before the pregnancy. Same thinking, creating a healthy soil.) And it is good to continue using homeopathy during her pregnancy, and after. It is helping both herself and the baby.

When I work with young children, and older ones too, I ask the mother about her pregnancy – how it was for her; how she felt physically, emotionally, and mentally; was there anything particular going on at the time; how was the birth, and more. I have learned that during a pregnancy, the mother and the baby share the same state. This information about the mother’s pregnancy often helps me to understand a little bit more of what the child is experiencing.

Homeopathy is safe to use when pregnant and when nursing the baby. Homeopathy focuses on the whole person, and addresses the individual. If you or a loved one is pregnant or planning on becoming pregnant soon, I encourage to see how homeopathy can be of help to you and to your future baby. After Pregnancy – A Change In A Woman’s Life

On the stats page of my blog, I saw that someone had googled “never well since pregnancy homeopathic remedy”. I am not sure exactly what their interest was, but I am going to take it as the person is not better since being pregnant, and wanting to know how homeopathy can help.

Changes

It is a happy time when a baby is born. There are also a lot of changes in a woman’s life at this time. Now, the mother has someone to take care of, who is totally brand new to the world, to itself, and to its mother-and-small-baby-1290405_960_720mother, father and its siblings. Everyone is learning about each other. We often say, the baby doesn’t come with a how-to manual. There are new roles, new responsibilities, new expectations, new schedules, new personalities, new family dynamics, just newness.

The mother wants to do the best job she can, even more than the best. With this new change in her life, she may be experiencing:

  • deprivation of sleep and sleep difficulties
  • breastfeeding issues
  • eating issues – not getting enough nutrients, not eating enough/eating too much
  • change in dynamics of the family
  • changes in her relationship with her significant other
  • image of herself / how she looks at herself, self reflection
  • how she looks physically – body is different, weight gain
  • going back to work/staying home
  • being super mom
  • healing from the birth or a c-section
  • miscarriage, stillbirth
  • anxiety, postpartum depression – An article on postpartum depression
  • exasperation of an ongoing health issue
  • baby having a difficult time or experiencing a health issue
  • health issues of a family member
  • feelings of being overwhelmed
  • advice from others
  • the baby was adopted

Getting Help

To ask for help is always a sign of strength, whether it is asking our family, friends, and/or professionals. By taking care of herself, the mother is also taking care of her new baby and her family. I know that at this time, the mother really isn’t thinking so much of taking care of herself, may not even have the time to think about it because she is so busy with the needs of others. Any time is a good time to ask for help, if it is needed. (If the mother, or you who is a mother and is reading this, are having thoughts of hurting herself and/or the baby, please do contact someone for help.)

After the pregnancy, it is a good time to come for homeopathic care. The homeopath will listen and observe the how and the what of what is bothering the mother – physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually – and then give the homeopathic remedy that is similar to this. (The main principle of homeopathy is Like Cures Like.) The similar homeopathic remedy stimulates the healing process of the mother. It is safe for the mother to use homeopathy while breastfeeding, and is therefore safe for the baby. And, homeopathy can be used in conjunction with other healing modalities, including western medicine.

I want to add – homeopathy can be helpful and healing to a mother whether the pregnancy is new, or one that was years ago. In both cases, the mother has noticed that she has not been well since that particular pregnancy, even ones that were years ago.
