I
Today, being election day in the USA, I think we need a space, a time to just breath, and to be nice to ourselves. I saw this quote and image on Facebook a week ago, and had shared it on my Facebook page then. Some of you may have seen it already. I wanted to post it here, today.
It was posted on Facebook by “Poetry and every Emotion”. It may be a quote by Emily McDowel, and an image from a greeting card company.
Kintsugi
The Japanese art of repair is called Kintsugi or Kintsukuroi. It means to repair with gold or a golden joinery. The broken pieces of the pottery are glued together with a lacquer. With the last layer of lacquer, a fine gold, silver, or platinum powder is also used. Then the pottery is burnished and polished. In a way, this repairing process creates a whole new piece of pottery. If you google Kintsugi you will see some beautiful pottery.
A Wonderful Message
To me this quote and image are a healing message. We live our lives. We experience successes, joys, pains, disappointments, hurts, adventures and more. All of this shapes us, making us who we are, and creating the beauty that is unique to each of us.
Wishing you all well.
