New Born Doesn’t Want to Leave It’s Mother

I want to share this video with you. It just touches me.

It is a video of a new born baby and it’s mother. The video shows so well the connection between the mother and the baby. I say so often say that in a pregnancy, the mother and the baby share the same state. The baby knows its mother – senses her, knows her smell, her heartbeat, just her.

Homeopathy is very helpful before becoming pregnant, during pregnancies, at birth, after birth, for the newborn, for the mom, and for the dad.

Enjoy!

Homeopathy Helpful for Children who Have Stomachaches (corrected post)

I read this article “Understanding the link between stress and stomach aches in children”. The article talks about how children experience stomachaches in connection to stress, whether it is a new school situation, difficult school environment or change in family life. The article suggests using hypnosis, mindfulness and counseling. I agree with these suggestions. I want to add homeopathy as a way to help with stomachaches.

(Yes, this is a duplicate post. I mistakenly published the wrong one.)

Although I am writing about children, this information applies to adults as well. Adults experience stomachaches from stress too.

The article was in Tuesday, August 27, 2013 edition of the U-T San Diego. It was written by Dr. Rebecca Cherry, associate director of the Motility Center at Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego, and was originally included in the Growing Up column published by Rady Children’s Hospital. The U-T San Diego was republishing it. Here is the link: http://www.rchsd.org/aboutus/newsroom/growingupcolumns/D022897#.UiExkz8muTq

child with a stomacheache

Homeopathy is healing the person, the whole person. We all have our own sensitivities, and our sensitive areas flare up when we are under stress. Since we are all unique individuals, no two stomachaches are alike. Yes, there are the common symptom of pain, but the root cause or state that the child experiences when having a stomachache is unique to him/her. The healing with homeopathy addresses this root cause, quieting it down. In a way, the stomachache is a sign that something is not right. It is good to listen to signs.

In addition to stomachaches, the child may have diarrhea, bloating, gas, burping, nausea, vomiting, cramping, loss of appetite, overeating, binging, craving center foods, gastric reflux, acid reflux, colic, indigestion, smelly stools and more. There may also be other physical symptoms, as well as emotional and mental ones. Remember, it is the whole person.

Very often, if the non nourishing, stressful environment is changed, the child will be better. Homeopathy calls these non nourishing environments maintaining causes. But if the child is still experiencing stomachaches after there has been a change in the environment, go see a professional homeopath. Actually, you may want to go see a homeopath anyway.

What Brings Someone to Homeopathy?

What brings someone to homeopathy? Who comes to see a homeopath?

In my practice, I see more women than men. And usually if I am seeing a family, I see the children and not the mother.

Someone comes to homeopathy after they have tried other healing therapies, western medicine and alternative medicines included. The person is not feeling better, even though he or she may be taking medication which alleviates the symptoms for a period of time, and then they need to take another dose of the medication. The person still experiences flare ups and episodes of their health condition.

I think mothers who have become uncomfortable with how western medicine treats their children start looking into homeopathy. It is usually a process for the mother.  They may not be comfortable with using medication for ADD/ADHD type of symptoms, and actually may be experiencing pressure for their children to go on medication from outside sources. They want to get off the merry go round of antibiotic use for ear infections or cortisone creams for eczema, since they are not seeing that their child is doing any better. There may be other reasons that have brought a mother to homeopathy.

Why not then come first to homeopathy? Perhaps, it is because people really don’t know what homeopathy is, and what it offers in terms of healing.  That is part of why I started this blog: to educate, to provide information, to answer questions, and to promote homeopathy.

To ask you, who are reading this blog, what would bring you to the point of seeking out homeopathy as a form of your health care?

Nux vomica Can Help Colic

I saw that someone reading my blog may have been interested in the topic of Nux vomica and colic. I thought I would address that.

Always in homeopathy, you are matching what the person is experiencing to a homeopathic remedy that is similar. In order to do that, especially with a baby, observation of how the baby is responding to things, what is different in their temperament and their mood compared to their usually temperament, what makes them better or worse, and taking into consideration the mother’s diet and mood, especially if the baby is being breastfed.

Colic can be experienced by an adult too. That may be indigestion. So again it is by observation, and the adult can tell you verbally.

Someone needing Nux vomica would be experiencing:

  • Pain cramping, griping, pressing, sore, bruised.
  • Better: for passing a stool, for hot drinks, for warmth while in bed, for passing wind.
  • Worse: after eating, from coughing, in the morning, during a fever, from wearing tight clothing, when tired, or eating too much or the wrong types of food.
  • Pains coming on after overindulging with food or eating stimulating types of food. Their may be nausea or indigestion.
  • Breastfeed babies – mothers eating too spicy foods or drinking too much coffee, tea or coke.
  • Chilly, and become irritable when gets chilled.
  • Violently angry, impatient, irritable, quarrelsome, nervous, excitable, angry when consoled.
  • Constipation alternating with diarrhea.
  • Constant desire to pass stool, but ineffectual (that is why they are better when passing a stool)
  • Stools are hard, large.
  • Shocked, let down, disappointed.
  • Wants to feel better quickly. Making an intense effort to get comfort NOW.

And always, if this continues it would be good to see your physician or a homeopath.

Colyocynthis, and Homeopathy are Safe to Use with Babies

I saw that someone who had read my blog was wondering if it is safe to give the homeopathic medicine Colocynthis to babies. Yes, it is safe. It is safe to give any homeopathic medicine to babies.

                                                                                            happy baby

Because a baby can’t verbally tell you in words how they feel, you need to observe how the baby is experiencing their symptoms, their pains, their moods, what makes them worse, what makes them better, and what is different from their usual behavior.  You are matching what the baby is experiencing to the homeopathic medicine that has the similar state of the baby. This is LIKE CURES LIKE or The Law of Similars, the main principle of homeopathy.

To give the homeopathic medicine it would be helpful to dissolve the pellets (3 -4) in a 4 ounce glass of filtered water. This would make it easier for the baby to take, since their tongue may thrust the pellets out of their mouths. When using the dissolved medicine one dose is equivalent to one teaspoon. If you are going to give another dose, it would be another teaspoonful.  Wait 30 minutes before and after food, bottle or breast to give the homeopathic medicine.

Keep the dissolved homeopathic medicine covered with saran wrap. The medicine is good for up to 24 hours and then you would need to throw it out and start again, if still using this homeopathic medicine.

Probably 1 – 3 doses may be needed. If the baby is doing better, stop giving the homeopathic medicine. The medicine is still working; it stimulates the baby’s healing process. If the symptoms return, then give another dose of the homeopathic medicine.

And it is always good to see a homeopathic practitioner, or doctor, if the symptoms continue. Self treating is good up to a point.
