At this time of year we start to hear about the flu. We are also hearing about a new variant of the coronavirus.
Homeopathy has always been helpful for someone who has the flu. It also has been helpful for people who have come down with any of the strains of the coronavirus. Historically, homeopathy has been helpful during pandemics. This was so during the 1918- 1919 Spanish Flu.
Usually, when there is an epidemic, and also during a flu season, specific homeopathic remedies are used for the particular strain of flu or for the epidemic at that time. This has been so with the coronavirus epidemic that we have been going through, whether it is with having come down with the virus; having lingering, long haul types of symptoms; or experiencing side effects from the vaccines.
Taking Care Of Yourself
It is always good to take care of yourself. Taking care of yourself can mean a lot of different things:
Using different healing modalities – chiropractic, acupuncture, Chinese medicine, homeopathy, vitamins, western medicine.
Exercising – going for walks or hikes, yoga, swimming.
Being in nature. (I love the beach.)
Pursuing activities you love.
Eating good, organic, nourishing foods.
Sleeping well and feeling rested.
Laughing and smiling.
Being with people you love.
Checking in with yourself. Being aware of your thoughts and feelings.
Having a spiritual practice. This can be a lot of different things, even some of what is listed above.
“HEY SLOW DOWN”
Sometimes, though, even with taking care of yourself, you may become ill. It is okay to be sick. I think we have come to the thinking that being sick is not good. When we are sick or not feeling well, it is our body, our vital force, telling us “Hey, slow down. I am making you slow down.” When we are sick, we do slow down, rest and take the the time to care for ourselves.
Our bodies have a wonderful ability to heal itself. Sometimes we need a little help. Homeopathy assists the body in its own healing. The symptoms that a person is experiencing is the way the person is trying to heal themselves. Sometimes the person gets stuck in these symptoms. The homeopath uses the symptoms as a guide to help select the homeopathic remedy that fits the person, that is similar to the person. This is Like Cures Like or The law of Similars, which is one of the main principles of homeopathy. The given homeopathic remedy stimulates the person’s own healing, getting them unstuck. Sometimes a series of homeopathic remedies are needed, using one at a time, as the person moves through the healing process.
If I can be of help to you or a loved one regarding the flu or any other health concern, I invite you to contact me here or through my website www.homeopathytoheal.com. I offer a complimentary 15 minute Get Acquainted Call. I see people in person and virtually, in and out of the San Diego area.
Last week I wrote about making a house call to see a patient. This week, I want to talk about using Skype for a homeopathic consultation appointment. In a way, it is like making a house call; you can see a little bit of the patient’s environment. I use Skype with patients who do not live locally to the San Diego area; patients who may not be able to come in for an appointment; or patients, who may live locally, but a house call is not feasible.
Mostly, I use Skype with patients that don’t live in the San Diego area. I have several patients with whom I work with this way. Skype is a free program, that one downloads from the internet. It is easy to use. You do need a camera that is either part of the computer, or you can purchase a separate camera that attaches to the computer. Skype has enabled people to communicate visually and audibly with each other from all over the world.
Important To See The Patient
As a homeopath, it is important to see the patient. I do quick check ins with a patient through emails, texts, and/or phone calls, but for the initial consultation, and for follow up appointments, seeing the patient is crucial.
When I meet with a patient, either in person or through Skype, I am listening and seeing what it is that bothers them. As the patient is talking, they will often use a hand gesture, move their body in a certain way, sit a certain way and/or be expressive with their face. These movements may come when certain words or descriptions are spoken or when they are sensing something within. All of this, their gestures and movements and their language is expressive of how they experience what bothers them.
As I have said in other posts, it is like getting into their world, hearing and seeing the perceptions and sensations of the person, and understanding their language. This is so whether they have a physical, an emotional, a mental, or a spiritual complaint/issue/symptom that brought them initially in for homeopathic care. It is finding out about the whole person. A homeopathic remedy is given that is similar to the wholeness of the person. This homeopathic remedy stimulates the person’s innate healing abilities.
I write this post because some of you who read my blog may not live locally to San Diego, and are interested in homeopathy for yourself or for a loved one. Skype is a very good way to have an appointment when there is a distance.
I would be happy to talk further with you on how homeopathy can be of help for you. Please contact me here, or through my website www.homeopathytoheal.com.
Although, many people know the word homeopathy, since they hear it being used in the media, and also see it printed on products, they don’t really know what homeopathy is. For many, homeopathy has become synonymous for natural, and used that way in the media when describing healing modalities and products. When someone hears me talk about what I do, when I am talking about homeopathy, they may say to me, or think to themselves, what she is talking about is essential oils, herbal medicine, and/or supplements. But that is not what homeopathy is.
Homeopathy is its own system of medicine. It was developed by the German physician Samuel Hahnemann in the late 1700’s. Homeopathy means “similar suffering”. Through listening, observing, and understanding what bothers the person and how they experience it, a homeopathic medicine is given that is similar. This similar homeopathic medicine stimulates the person’s own healing. To read more about homeopathy and homeopathic remedies. (I encourage you to read this. And I use the words homeopathic remedy and homeopathic medicines interchangeably.)
What Is A Homeopathic Medicine?
Because homeopathy is often confused with other healing modalities. I wanted to tell you what a homeopathic medicine is. There are over 4000 homeopathic medicines. They are made from plants, minerals, animals, and other natural sources. Think how many plants there are in the world. Many of these plants have been made into homeopathic medicines. Think of the periodic table. All of these elements have been made into a homeopathic medicine. And think of animals – mammals, snakes, spiders, insects, mollusks, sea animals, and birds. Many of these have been made into homeopathic medicines.
Only a small part of the substance that the homeopathic medicine is being made from is used to make the homeopathic medicine. And with animals, the animal is not killed. A small part of the milk, wing, blood, or venom is used to make the homeopathic medicine.
The homeopathic medicines that I use in my practice are purchased from a homeopathic pharmacy, such as Hahnemann in Northern California, and Helios in England. These pharmacies make the homeopathic medicines on their premises, using the method that Dr. Samuel Hahnemann developed. There are other pharmacies in Europe, India, the US, and other parts of the world.
Your Use Of Homeopathic Medicines
Many of you have used the homeopathic medicine Arnica montana for bruising and shock after an injury, a trauma, dental work, or a fall. And possibly you have used other homeopathic medicines. Some of you have seen a homeopath for treatment. You have found homeopathy to be healing and helpful.
Healing With Homeopathy
The healing with homeopathic care is deep. Homeopathy is helpful for many of the health concerns people experience today. I invite you to see how homeopathy can be a deep healing for you, and for your loved ones. I would be happy to talk with you. Either contact me here through this blog, or through my website www.homeopathytoheal.com. I have a complimentary Get Acquainted Call.
I am a homeopath. I am a patient too. I see a homeopath. I don’t self treat for homeopathic care. I may self treat for first aid, and there were several times I did for chronic conditions, but I don’t now. I cannot be objective, nor can I really hear and observe myself. I can’t wear two hats at the same time – the patient and the homeopath.
This last week, my homeopath gave me a new homeopathic remedy. This happens. The homeopath sees the case deeper, some things change, or there is a better understanding of the person’s complaints and suffering. A different homeopathic remedy is needed than to what was given before. This new homeopathic remedy was in the same family, the same kingdom, of the one I had just be taking. The former homeopathic remedy had helped, but did not heal as deeply as is possible with homeopathy.
With taking this new homeopathic remedy, an old condition or symptom that I had before, came back. I had suppressed this condition, this situation by using antibiotics when it had first occurred. With the process of healing from a homeopathic remedy, the vital force, the chi, the immune system, becomes stronger, and the symptoms or conditions that were suppressed by the use of medications, such as antibiotics and steroids (cream and oral form) may come back. These symptoms/conditions come back for a short time, and then they are gone. It is healing. In a previous blog, I had written about THE DIRECTION OF CURE. That is what this is. It is a good sign that the remedy is helping and healing, stimulating the person’s own healing process.
That is what was happening with me. The antibiotics that I had taken had been suppressive, and now there was a return of older symptoms/conditions, as I was healing. I knew that was what was happening to me, and it was a good thing. I contacted my homeopath and told him, and he agreed with me. In fact what he said was “this is a good thing”. I slept. I took care of the area that was affected. I took care of me. I wasn’t very hungry, but what I did eat was of plant type food, so to speak. Vegetarian. Nourishing food. Life giving food.
Yes, there is a place and a need for antibiotics. They can be extremely helpful, and life saving. And, they can be overused. When I had this situation originally, I could have treated it homeopathically. I didn’t. At first, I didn’t know what was going on with the discomfort and the pain that I was experiencing, and I waited. Then I went to the doctor. The doctor prescribed antibiotics. This happens.
With the healing of old, suppressed symptoms and conditions, the body, the chi, the vital force, the person, becomes stronger and healthier. This healing affects the whole person, on all levels – the physical, the emotional, the mental, and the spiritual. It is all good. Homeopathy creates a deep healing. It is a healing at the root from where the symptoms and conditions come.
Much of what western medicine does in its treatment can be suppressive. Yes, the person feels better because the symptoms are not as strong, the itch may be gone, the pain may be gone, but only for a short time until the medication is taken again. We may very often think that a healing has occurred if we no longer have the symptoms, or have less of them, but we need to take a medication often and regularly so there are no symptoms. This isn’t a healing. It is a palliating, and can also be suppressing too.
Healing With Homeopathy
For me, this experience shows how well homeopathy heals, and how well it addresses each of us, as the individual person we are. My health concern was heard, observed, and understood. The homeopathic remedy given to me, being similar to what I was experiencing (Like Cures Like) stimulated my own body to heal. To heal, not to palliate, not to ease the symptoms, and not to suppress. To heal.
I invite you to heal. Very simple. Contact me here through this blog, or through my website www.homeopathytoheal.com. I have a complimentary Get Acquainted Call.
A lot of people I talk to have used the homeopathic remedy Arnica montana. Actually, I think Arnica montana is what introduces a lot of people to homeopathy.
What I Hear From People Who Have Used Arnica Montana
People tell me that they use Arnica montana for all different kinds of situations. One woman has used it when she had sprained her ankle. Another woman mentioned that her friend used Arnica montana when they had knee surgery. A mom has said they she uses Arnica montana when her child falls down at the playground. And a man has said that his dentist very often suggests that he use Arnica montana after he has had dental work, such as a filling or an extraction. In all of these situations, Arnica montana has helped. (Click here to read a blog about Arnica montana.)
When I am talking with someone who has a sprained or strained their arm. leg, ankle or wrist, and they have used Arnica montana, I may mention the homeopathic remedy Ruta grav. Often, this remedy is new to the person. They have not heard of it before. And I may mention that it is better to use homeopathy orally, in pellet form, than to use it topically as a cream or ointment, such as ArnicaGel. Generally, homeopathy is used orally, which promotes a deep healing.
And then I say, there are over 4000 homeopathic remedies.
Over 4000 Homeopathic Remedies
People don’t know that there are over 4000 homeopathic remedies. And it isn’t important that they do know. They know of Arnica montana, and maybe they know of a few other homeopathic remedies, and have used them for a stomach ache, indigestion, pain, a cold, or a fever. They have seen 50 homeopathic remedies at their local health food store. People purchase them, self treat, going by what is printed on the label.
Why I mention that there are over 4000 homeopathic remedies is that there is so much more to homeopathy than helping with bruising, traumas, falls, surgeries, which Arnica montana is so helpful for. Homeopathy does help in first aid and acute care, like colds, flus, stomach aches, AND, homeopathy is so helpful for chronic conditions, where other forms of healing, including western conventional medicine has not helped.
So when I say there are over 4000 homeopathic remedies, what I am saying is – you, who have used homeopathy and it has helped, and you who have shown an interest in homeopathy, why not see how homeopathy can be helpful for other health concerns that you or your loved ones may experience. Such as:
Homeopathy treats the individual person. To me this one of the wonderful aspects of homeopathy. Homeopathy is truly a medicine of the individual. The homeopathic practitioner (the homeopath), through observation, listening, questioning, is finding out how each person experiences their particular health concern. Two people can come in for homeopathic treatment, each having the similar complaint, let say headaches, but underneath, deep down to the root cause, each of these two people experience their headache uniquely to them, and differently from each other. The homeopath is hearing, listening and observing each person.
A homeopathic remedy is given, that is similar to what the person is experiencing. The homeopathic remedy is for the individual. This remedy, one out of 4000, stimulates the person’s own wonderful healing ability. The person is feeling better, their immune system is stronger, and what brought the person in is getting better, such as the headaches, from the example I gave.
I write this blog to educate, to deepen, and to broaden people’s knowledge of homeopathy. I invite those who already have an interest in homeopathy; those who have used homeopathy, finding it helpful; and those who are new to homeopathy and have an interest in holistic medicine, to see how homeopathy can be of help in yours and your loved ones healing. Contact me here through my blog or through my website www.homeopathytoheal.com. I would be happy to talk with you, I offer a complimentary Get Acquainted Call.
Several weeks ago, I was having lunch with a woman I had met recently. We were learning about what each of us do, and having a good time doing so. She had heard of the word homeopathy, she said. And as we were talking, she realized that she really did not know what homeopathy was, and now she had a better understanding of it.
She said, homeopathy is like giving someone the same pattern of them.
Yes, I said, what a wonderful way of saying it – the same pattern.
The Same Pattern
It is giving the same pattern of what the person is experiencing – in their illness, in their problem, in their stuckness. Giving the homeopathic remedy that is the same pattern, the similar to that of the person. This is like cures like or The Law of Similars.
Very simply, if someone is having difficulty sleeping, is an insomniac, and is very wound up at night, they may do well with the homeopathic remedy Coffea crudum. Coffea crudum is made from the coffee plant. And if someone who has allergies or a cold with stinging, burning sensations in their eyes, and a lot of tearing from their eyes and their nose, they may do well with the homeopathic remedy Allium cepa. Allium cepa is made from the onion. These are two simple examples of like cures like. Giving the same pattern, giving the same pattern of what the person’s suffering is like. Actually that is what homeopathy means, similar suffering.
What Is The Pattern
As a homeopath, I hear what the problem is, what the suffering is for the person. It is not just the symptoms. Symptoms are signs or the manifestations of the deeper problem. I am listening, observing, witnessing, the deeper problem, getting to know what the person’s pattern is. And then giving the similar in the form of the homeopathic remedy. Giving the same pattern, as my new friend said. This similar homeopathic remedy stimulates the person’s own healing abilities, pushing them them through were they are stuck. And lessening and quieting down the pattern.
The pattern can be doing the same thing over and over again, having the same reaction to things, having the same physical flare up. Going round and round. I sometimes experience my own going round and round, and that is why years ago, I sought out homeopathic care. I continue to see my homeopath when needed. I do not treat myself. Homeopathy helps to quiet down and lessen my pattern, my round and round.
Healing Your Pattern With Homeopathy
What is your pattern? Or a loved ones pattern? I would be happy to talk to you further on how homeopathy can quiet down your pattern, your round and round. Either contact me here through the blog or through my website www.homeopathytoheal.com I have a complimentary Get Acquainted Call.
People come to homeopathy for all sorts of reasons. For physical complaints, like asthma, arthritis, digestive issues, headaches, menstrual issues, and allergies. For emotional issues, like fears, anxiety, depression, anger, and grief. For mental issues, like difficulty focusing and memory loss. And for other concerns. Whatever the reason is that brings someone to homeopathy, it is always where the person is listened to, heard, and seen for who he is, and for what bothers him. Lately, I have been calling this “listening through”.
Not Being Bogged Down In The Story
Listening through. It is not getting bogged down into the literalness of what the person is saying, Not getting involved in the story, the specficness of the story, or the characters the person is talking about. Not getting involved in the emotionality of the story. It is rather, what is the story expressing? What is the sensitivity that this person experiences, that is expressed in this story? Someone may be talking about their brother-in-law, or their boss in the story. The person is really talking about himself. What is the sensitivity here, that is being expressed through the brother-in-law or the boss?
Listening through. It is also watching, observing and seeing where the emphasis of what bothers the person is being expressed. This is done often by hand gestures, recurring hand gestures. The hand gestures are showing that what the person is saying is important, that it is expressive of their state of what is bothering them. For example, a patient of mine, was talking about the pain she experiences in her hands, and as she was talking about it, she was making a hand gesture of tightly closing her hands together and then opening them up. I asked, what is that that you are doing? Tell me more. It is squeezing, she said, a sensation of tightening, tightening really tight, squeezing.
The gestures could also be facial expressions, or bigger movements, such as continually moving around in their seat or moving around the room. Another patient of mine, a young girl, crawled and crept around my consultation room, going behind the chairs, under the desk, and into the corners of the room.
All of these kinds of movements – hand gestures, facial expressions, larger movements – are expressive of the person.
Learning The Person’s Language
Listening through. It is also learning the person’s language, Deciphering their code. Getting to know their language, their use of words and their movements. What do they mean by the words and expressions they use? It is not interpreting. It is learning what the person means by the words or expressions spoken. That is why I often ask, tell me more about what this (word) means to you, or what is the experience or sensation of this “word” for you. I know what the word means for me, but I don’t know what it means for the person.
And some of what someone is saying will not make sense in terms of our every day use of language. The person is speaking their language, which is expressive of what is bothering them.
Listening through. Listening to. Listening openly. Listening without prejudice. Listening without judgement. It is listening to the person to understand them as an individual, and from that to give a homeopathic remedy that is similar to all of it. The homeopathic remedy stimulates their healing.
Healing With Homeopathy
Is there a place where you feel you are being listened through? That what is bothering you in your health is really understood and seen? That is what homeopathy does. Please contact me here through my blog or through my website www.homeopathytoheal.com to talk further. I have a complimentary 15 minute Get Acquainted Call.
We have been hearing a lot about measles in the news. What we having been hearing has been about whether people have been vaccinated or not vaccinated for measles. I don’t want to go into this topic in this blog post. I think it is important for parents to know that if their child, or themselves as an adult, become ill with measles, or any other childhood disease, homeopathy can help during these times. And, to know that homeopathy is helpful if someone has vaccinated their child and there are adverse reactions to the vaccines.
In this blog I want to talk about measles, and how homeopathy can be helpful if someone is not moving through it well. The body has a wonderful ability to heal itself. It is when the body gets stuck, that help may be needed, and this is when homeopathy will be useful. The homeopathic remedies are helping the body with its own healing abilities. It is important to see a practitioner of homeopathy, a homeopath, to help in this health situation. You don’t want to self treat.
Measles is one of several childhood diseases. It is important that the rash develops, and moves downward. That is an indication of healing – from the inside out, and from the top downward. To read more about direction of healing, read my blog post on direction of cure.
Symptoms of measles:
Fever of 102 – 104 Fahrenheit
Watery eyes – eyes inflamed
Sensitivity to light
Hard, dry cough
Seldom has an appetite
Tongue may be coated
Breath – sick smelling
Rash may start in mouth on 2 – 3 rd day. Tiny, white spots in inner lining of mouth, called Koplik’s Spots.
On 4th or 5th day, itchy red, rash will appear. Large, flat blotches, they may run into each other. Start on face, moving downward. (This is a Direction of Cure) Lasting 4 -7 days. Rash is a good sign.
Fever may rise as rash moves down the body, and subside in a few days.
Lasts around 10 days
Most contagious, 2 – 4 days before rash appears. Still keep child isolated for 5 days after rash develops.
Observation To Help Come to a Homeopathic Remedy
It is best to observe the person: their physical state, emotional state, and mental state. It is matching what the person is experiencing to a similar homeopathic remedy. This is Like Cures Like or the Law of Similars. Some areas to observe and note:
Symptoms come on suddenly or gradually
Which are the prominent symptoms? Fever, restlessness, fatigue, eye irritations, runny nose, rash
Color of nasal discharge. Does it irritate the skin?
Emotional state – irritability, wanting to be alone, wanting to be around others
Desire of fresh air
Of course, it is important to get as much rest and sleep as one can, drink fluids, eat if one wants to or not. Being in a dark room may help if someone is very sensitive to the light. Vitamin C and A can be helpful as well.
The ill person may start with one homeopathic remedy and then need to change to another, as they move through the illness. The homeopathic remedies are helping the body in its own healing abilities.
Here is a short description of some of the remedies that are useful when someone has the measles.
Aconite – Restless. Eyes ache in the light. Eyes and nose are streaming. Hard, croupy cough. Useful in early days of measles, especially if it has come on suddenly. Has a fever. Fearful.
Apis – High fever. Skin swollen. Inflamed eyes and lips. Worse by heat. Thirstless. irritable. may be delirious. Restless.
Belladonna – Useful in early stage, like Aconite. And can be useful after the rash has developed. Restless, red face and flushed,. Thirstless. Throbbing headache. Skin is damp from fever. May be delirious. Unable to sleep. Limbs may twitch and jerk. Has a sore throat. Bothered by noise, light and jarring.
Byronia – When rash is slow or late to appear, or doesn’t develop fully. When chest is affected. Cough is dry and painful, and made worse by motion. Lies still, hurts to move. (Gelsemium – is too tired to move.) Pale face, red eyes. can have constipation and a frontal headache. Dry mouth. Thirst for large amounts of cold water between long intervals. Worse by any motion and warmth. Better by being still and with cold things.
Euphrasia – Nasal discharge and eye symptoms are dominate. Eyes are sensitive to light. Acrid tears streaming from red, swollen eyes, which irritates the checks. Profuse watery nasal discharge that does not irritate the nose nor the upper lip. (Different from Gelsemium). Harsh cough. may have a headache. Nasal and eye symptoms are better in the open air.
Gelsemium – Also helpful in early stages, and after rash has developed. Begins slowly. Lethargic, feels heavy. Doesn’t want to be disturbed, doesn’t want to move. Motionless, because they are too tired. Not very thirsty. Chilly, though feverish. Complaining of achiness. Harsh, croupy cough. Hoarseness. Watery nasal discharge that irritates the nose and upper lip (different from Euphrasia). When rash starts, it is itchy.
Pulsatilla – Useful in later stages of measles, when fever has subsided. Similar to Kali bichromicum, but milder. Nasal discharge is thick and yellowish. Profuse tearing from the eyes. Cough is dry at night, loose during the day. Symptoms worse at dusk. wants cool air, worse in heat. Little thirst. May have nausea with diarrhea. Earaches. Wants to be with other people. Wants sympathy. Changeable in moods. Likes the open air.
Rhus Tox – Intensely itchy rashes. Worse at night and during rest. Restlessness. Rash recedes or fails to appear.

Each person’s language is different. Each person describes their suffering in their own unique way.
The language can be verbal and non-verbal. Verbal language is specific words used, metaphors, descriptions of images, and stories. Non-verbal language is hand gestures, sounds made, facial expressions, and body movements. All, the verbal and the non-verbal, are expressive of the person. It is our own unique language. And we are speaking it all the time, and not really knowing that we are doing so.
All language, verbal and non-verbal, is what the homeopath is listening to, is watching, and is observing. Putting it all together to make the picture of the person. It is a whole picture. And then selecting a homeopathic remedy that is similar to this picture. The main principle of homeopathy is Like Cures Like or the Law of Similars.
Homeopathy is wonderful for animals, babies, and non-verbal people, such as children and adults who don’t speak. Language is expressed not only through speech.
A patient of mine was talking about herself, about what bothers her. After talking for awhile, certain words came up, and then an image with these words, and then there was a gesture. The arm circled around her body, as she was saying the words “surrounding me, all around me, and enclosed”. And the gesture was just there; it just came. The image she said was “like a shell, a wall, something hard. And it is all around”. She continued, “I can’t be in for long, and I can’t be out for long”. She talked about being protected, enclosed, and another hand gesture started moving up and down in front of her. It is as if the hand gestures were drawing the image.
The hand gestures just come. They aren’t thought out; they are spontaneous. And they can come often. When the homeopath sees a particular gesture recurring often, she may ask or say, “What is that? Do this gesture again. What comes when you do the gesture?” And then the person will talk more.
How do you express what is bothering you? You may not be aware of your language. The homeopath will hear and see it, and this will guide her to a selecting a homeopathic remedy that will stimulate your own healing.
I am always happy to talk with people about how homeopathy can be of help for a health concern they are experiencing. Contact me here by writing a comment, or through my website http://www.homeopathytoheal.com I offer a 15 minute complimentary phone consultation.
With two calls this week about potential patients, I thought it was time to write this blog post. I had written a blog post about stress and had mentioned at the end of it (STRESS and Homeopathy) that we don’t often use the word “stress” when talking about children. But children do respond to things happening in their lives, are stressed, and have an automatic response to outside pressures, just as adults do.
Both phone calls were to see if homeopathy would be helpful for a child. One was younger than 5, the other was a preteen. Both children have seen or are seeing a therapist; neither have started any kind of western medication. Children do very well with homeopathy. It is a wonderful time to start homeopathy when they are young. I have been saying since these two phone calls that these children are at a fork in the road. If they go down the western medicine road, they will most likely be given medication, and that often snowballs, leading from one medication to another one. These two children are both too young to start this, and why do this to children anyway?
The following are some of the symptoms and behaviors we may see in a child who is having difficulties and is stressed: fears, phobias, depression, oppositional type of behaviors, acting out, bed wetting, PTSD type of symptoms, withdrawal, tantrums, difficulty concentrating, anxiousness, anger, crying, sadness, chronic colds or stomachaches, headaches, difficulty sleeping, nightmares, eating difficulties, digestion issues, skin eruptions and more. Actually anything, and everything. It is just how the child manifests his stress.
In some ways, children don’t have as much control over their environment as adults do. (Although adults may feel that they don’t have any control either, and that may be part of their automatic response). The child may be responding and reacting to different things or events that are happening in his life. The event or situation may have triggered the child’s sensitivity, and thus symptoms and behaviors are being expressed, some of them listed above.
I know as parents, we all do our best and want our children to be happy, healthy, safe, to be loved, loving, and develop into their full potential as human beings. With all our good intentions as parents, we sometimes don’t have control over things that do happen to our children, or to us. Things happen in life; changes occur; and we just go with it as best as we can. Some of these events and situations could be: how a person is being treated, family issues, divorce, separation, financial changes, loss of a family member, poverty, reaction to medications or vaccines, malnutrition, abuse, disability, war, exposure to chemicals or drugs, food sensitivities, a difficult birth or start to life and more.
When someone brings their child to homeopathy, the homeopath is learning about this child’s sensitivity. This is done through observation, listening to both the parents and the child, finding out about dreams, finding out what bothers them, the child’s likes and dislikes, and more. With all of this, the homeopath gives a homeopathic remedy that is similar. The remedy stimulates the child’s healing process, and the sensitivity quiets down, the automatic response lessens, and the symptoms ease off. For example, the bed wetting has stopped, oppositional behavior has eased, fears have quieted down, coughs and breathing difficulties are no longer occurring. The situation may have not changed, but there is a shift in the child, and now he is able to move on, and handle things better in his life, perhaps even changing his situation if he can. A healing has occurred.
