Yes, Chocolate has been made into a homeopathic remedy. Chocolate is part of the plant family, Malvale. There are over 4000 homeopathic remedies made from plants, minerals and elements, and different animals.
Chocolate was made into a homeopathic remedy by Jeremy Sherr. Jeremy Sherr is a wonderful homeopath, who has done many provings of different substances that are made into homeopathic remedies. He lives and practices in Africa now, and teaches homeopathy all over the world. If you google him and Chocolate, you can read more about this homeopathic remedy, and other remedies.
I recently gave Chocolate to one of my patients.
I often write in my posts that each homeopathic remedy has a picture. My job as a homeopath is to understand the picture and the totality of the person, and then match that with a homeopathic remedy that has the similar picture.
Connection And Disconnection
In the Malvale family there is the feeling of being connected, attached, bonded and intimate with people. The opposite is the feeling of being disconnected, alone, separate, and isolated.
When I was studying this family (Malvale) during one of the schools I attended, the analogy of a nursing baby kept coming up for me. I have always thought and said, when a baby is nursing it is like baby heaven for them. The baby is getting food, nourishment, closeness, body bonding, being held, loved, protected, cared for, nurturing, feeling safe and secure. Everything is all rolled into one.
The look on the baby’s face as they fall asleep at the breast, is euphoric, smiling as they are sleeping. It as if they are in heaven, baby heaven. What a wonderful feeling this is for the baby, and often a wonderful feeling for the mother too. This is deep bonding and connection.
The opposite would be non bonding. The feeling of being alone, isolated, detached, indifferent, wanting to connect, a feeling of self sufficiency in that they don’t need anyone, and that they can do it alone. In some ways their actions may push people away, so that they cannot connect, even though they want to.
A specific analogy in describing Chocolate is the hedgehog. The hedgehog has two distinctly different sides: the soft belly and the quills on the back and outside of its body. The belly’s softness is inviting to cuddle and snuggle up to, but the back would be something you would want to avoid, almost feeling repelled by it, because of the prickly quills that could hurt. The hedgehog rolls up, protecting its soft belly, presenting the quill side to the outside world.
The belly and the back are the two sides of Chocolate.
(In the photo, the hedgehog is being held by supporting the soft belly, and avoiding the quills.)
It is too soon to say how my patient is doing, since she just started taking this homeopathic remedy. Some of what she talked about when I saw her was the feeling of wanting a connection with people, and how she felt it is difficult for her to do so. She feels very lonely and alone. (This also is part of our society today. We are very connected through technology, and maybe not as much through in person, social interactions.)
She has digestive issues. And she said that she is eating chocolate a lot. She is aware when she is eating chocolate that she is trying to fill herself up with something – maybe a sense of belonging, nurturing, connecting, love, maternal love and bonding.
Please know that if you eat a lot of chocolate, it doesn’t mean you need the homeopathic remedy Chocolate. 🙂
