I have noticed lately that I am again using the analogy of a jigsaw puzzle, when I am talking to someone about homeopathy, and what happens when they come in for homeopathic care. I wrote about putting together a jigsaw puzzle in an early post, which you can read here. I want to share this thought again.
What I Am Saying Now
This is what I am saying to a patient: It is as if we are doing a jigsaw puzzle together. You are giving me the pieces – what you are experiencing, what your symptoms are like, why they bother you, your past history, your dreams, your fears, your emotions, and more.
We do not have a finished picture of what it will look like to guide us as we are putting the pieces together. We don’t have a picture on the box cover.
I love this analogy of the jigsaw puzzle. I love it because we, the patient and I, are doing this process together. We are witnessing what bothers them, together. It is a joint endeavor.
Jigsaw Puzzle
Sometimes, I don’t get all the pieces of the puzzle at one time. I may get some at the first appointment, and then more at subsequent appointments. It is a process, a process of putting together the puzzle. We start with one homeopathic remedy. And often, another one or several will be needed, as a deeper and fuller picture emerges. I believe that each homeopathic remedy that is used, is helpful in its own right. It may open up or remove a layer, so we, the patient and I, can witness more of what is going with the person.
A Patient
There is a patient I have been working with for about 10 months. She has done very well with homeopathy. She had originally come to homeopathy for fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue type of symptoms. Recently I saw her, and we went a little deeper into her feelings of anxiety and fear. When I looked back on the first meeting we had together, something she had said at that time about feeling paralyzed really fit the picture now. I hadn’t quite understood it before, but now it made more sense. This is a good example of the homeopathic process, and of putting the puzzle pieces together.
Homeopathy To Heal
I invite you to bring your puzzle pieces to homeopathy. Let’s put them together, making the whole picture of you, so you can feel better.
I am happy to talk with you. You can contact me here through this blog or through my website www.homeopathytoheal.com.
A couple of weeks ago, I did a talk on homeopathy to a fibromyalgia support group. I was pleased to have this opportunity to talk to people about homeopathy, and to this group particularly. It was a small group of very interested women. (If any of you who attended the talk are reading this post now, it was nice to meet you all.) What I enjoyed so much was their interest and their involvement. They had a lot of questions, and shared about themselves, about their experiences with their health, and about their lives. This is the kind of talk I like to give, and be part of.
List Of Symptoms
If you google fibromyalgia on the internet, you will see a list of symptoms. I have listed them below. Someone may experience some of these symptoms. Someone may experience all of them. And someone may experience these symptoms, and not have the diagnosis of fibromyalgia.
deep muscle pain and soreness
morning stiffness
flu-like aching
radiating pain
sensitivity to touch
problems sleeping
fatigue
difficulty thinking clearly
difficulty performing every day tasks
stress and anxiety
depression
migraine headaches
This is a list. It doesn’t really say anything about the person. Yes, people who have fibromyalgia may experience these symptoms, but there are other things about their health that bother them. And each person might have an additional list of things that bother them which is more descriptive of them as the person they are.
Healing With Homeopathy
With homeopathy, the homeopath will hear about these symptoms on the list, and also will hear, see, observe, and witness more of what is bothering the individual person. I am always saying that homeopathy is treating the person, who has ________, in this case fibromyalgia. Homeopathy is not treating the disease, nor the name of the health concern. The homeopathic remedy given is similar to what the individual person is experiencing. It is not a homeopathic remedy for fibromyalgia.
These women most likely experience some or all of the symptoms listed above. Plus, they experience others things that bother them. If I was going to ask each of them, what bothers them the most, each would say something different from each other. Each woman is different, despite having the same diagnosis of fibromyalgia, A very simple example of this, is that one woman said that she felt worse, and her symptoms were worse when there was cold weather. And another woman said she was worse during hot weather. These two women have different experiences. We are all different.
There were five women in the group. I am pretty sure that each of these woman would need a different homeopathic remedy that addresses how and what they experience. Each one being different and unique. Conventional medicine has a one size fits all approach. The same medication is given to everyone for a health concern, not looking at each person as an individual. Homeopathy sees the individual person, treating the person.
If you experience any of the symptoms listed, whether you have the diagnosis of fibromyalgia or not, I invite you to contact me to see how homeopathy can be of help to you. Contact me either through this blog or through my website www.homeopathytoheal.com I have a complimentary Get acquainted Call.
There are many people of all ages, young children to older adults, men and women, who experience ongoing, chronic conditions in which flare ups and episodes occur fairly often. They may be using some form of medication to help ease, to palliate, and to alleviate the symptoms. The medication may help them feel better, for a period of time, but there is no real healing. Homeopathy can be extremely helpful for these types of health conditions, promoting a deep healing.
The October 21st, 2013 post on The National Center for Homeopathy’s Facebook page writes specifically about the medication predinsone and auto-immune illnesses. What is written in this post can be applied to any form of chronic illness in which medication is used to palliate symptoms. I have included the post here for you to read. (If you would like to see the NCH’s Facebook page yourself, google “The National Center for Homeopathy, October 21st”. Click on NCH’s Facebook page, scroll down to October 21st.) The National Center for Homeopathy is a great resource for homeopathy: finding a homeopathic practitioner, learning more about homeopathy, and being updated about what is happening in the homeopathic community.
“Predinsone is a steroidal drug commonly proscribed for fibromyalgia, allergies, skin eruptions, arthritis, asthma and many other auto-immune disorders. Side effects are many, dangerous and have been well known since they (steroidal drugs) were first introduced in the 1950’s.
For those with chronic illnesses, these corticosteroids can only suppress symptoms and never actually cure these inflammatory problems because they never address the reasons WHY you are experiencing continual inflammation.
Homeopathy is a wonderfully safe and helpful alternative to steriodal drugs. If you suffer from chronic acute problems for which your physician wants to prescribe this class of drugs, consider talking to a well trained homeopath to learn of better and FAR safer homeopathic options.”

Homeopathy treats and heals the whole person. There is usually something specific that brings a person in to see the homeopath. The health concern could be one of those listed above. In the homeopathic consultation, this health concern is explored in depth – what it is like for the person, how it affects them, the sensation of it and more. Other areas, aspects, and symptoms of the person are also explored in depth. For example, one aspect is how the person responds and reacts to stress. When you think about it, there are particular responses and reactions each of us experience that are unique to us when we are feeling stressed. At these times, this could be when the flare ups of the health concern are more prevalent. These responses and reactions could be difficulty sleeping, change in eating habits, particular thoughts and feelings, particular behaviors, and other physical responses and sensations. All of this gives a picture of the state of the person.
It is the whole of the person that is being treated in homeopathy. Everything is connected. Each part is not in isolation from the rest; it is part of the whole. Homeopathy is treating the person, the whole person.
What is your suffering? Do you or a loved one have a chronic condition? Are you taking medication for it and not feeling any better? Are you concerned about the side effects from the medication? It may be time to see how homeopathy can help you. Talk to a trained classical homeopath to find out more.
To add: it is always important to have your medical doctor manage and supervise any changes in the dosage of the medication, whether it is to decrease, increase or wean off of it.
What brings someone to homeopathy is often a specific health concern, a certain symptom or symptoms. For example, someone will say I have Fibromyalgia, can homeopathy help me?
As I said in my blog, THERE IS A NEED FOR HOMEOPATHY, homeopathy can help.
Homeopathy is treating the person, it is treating you, not the disease. The disease is a name, a label to a list of symptoms. People ask me when they call or when I am talking with them, does homeopathy treat this or treat that? I say yes, it does help. Homeopathy is treating you who has this particular disease or symptom.
We are all unique individuals and experience the disease or symptoms differently from each other. Two people who “have” Fibromyalgia experience it uniquely to themselves. They each may have the common symptoms of Fibromyalgia, the ones listed under the label, the name, but each of them experience the fibromyagia symptoms differently. The how, the what of each person’s experience is what the homeopath wants to understand. This leads the homeopath to select the most similar homeopathic remedy to the person, to the person’s individual state. This is Like Cures Like or the Law of SImilars. Homeopathy is addressing the healing of the whole person – the emotional, the mental, the physical, and the spiritual sides of the person.
.
There isn’t a homeopathic remedy for Fibromyalgia. There is, a homeopathic remedy for the individual person who is experiencing symptoms listed under the name of Fibromyalgia. Please note, I used Fibromyalgia as an example. What I have written here applies to all disease names, such as chronic fatigue syndrome, urinary tract infections, migraines and more. Homeopathy is treating the person.
