With the start of a new school year, there are often different feelings that come up. It is natural to have feelings about a new situation and wondering how it will be. With the start of this school year, 2021, students of all ages, preschool through graduate and parents too, may be having more feelings of trepidation, uncertainty, fear, anticipation, anxiety, performance anxiety, embarrassed, worry about safety and health than usual. There may also be feelings of excitement, finally, and yay back at school.
I think for any child, and parent, there is a mixture of feelings. Wondering, how will this school year be?
I want to add that these kinds of feelings may also be experienced by people regarding their jobs. They may be starting a new job or going back to work after having been working at home.
Sometimes people – children, teenagers, adults – develop physical symptoms from having an upsetting experience or from anticipating something that may happen. The physical symptoms could be stomachaches, headaches, nausea, diarrhea, difficulty concentrating, difficulty sleeping, menstrual changes, skin eruptions, obsessive behaviors, phobias, fears, nightmares, sore throats, breathing difficulties, earaches, colds, flus, and more.
The emotional state and the physical state of a person are connected. Each are pieces making up the totality of the person. Homeopathy looks at the totality of the person.
I want to specifically address anxiety. Several mothers I talked to recently suggested that I write about this regarding college age students. A thank you to these two mothers for the suggestion.
Very often, people who say they are feeling anxious are given a prescription medication. The prescribed medication may be relieving for a period time, but it is not healing, at the core. We use the words “anxiety” and “anxious” a lot. It is a BIG generic term/label/diagnosis, and it is treated in a generic way too, not looking at the individual and what they are experiencing. Homeopathy looks at the individual and what they are experiencing.
