Moms

Moms.

I was introduced to homeopathy years ago, when I was part of a La Leche League play group with my sons. La Leche League is a breastfeeding support organization. Some of the moms of the playgroup talked about homeopathy. I had never heard of homeopathy. I thought what is this! I started to do some reading and attended some classes locally. Three years later, I enrolled in a program that was in Devon, England – The School of Homeopathy. The school still exists, but is located in a different part of  England. I was a mom who wanted to know more about homeopathy. I wanted to learn.

Moms are the advocates of their family’s health, whether for their children, their partners, their parents, their extended family, theirmotherhood-7114294_960_720 friends, their pets and themselves. A father too may be the mom of the family, or an aunt, or a good friend or some other relationship. I am including all those relationships into one, and calling them mom, the mom of the family.

Moms are usually my contact person for whoever the patient is in the family. They are the ones who call me initially. They know when their families are well, and not well. They know if something has changed with a family member. They are good observers. They know. They sense. They are aware. They may not know what is wrong or bothering the family member, specifically, but they know something is not right.

When sensing that something is not quite right with a family member, moms will seek out health care for that person. Moms may do research to see what choices they have, perhaps ones that they may have not known of before. They may ask other moms what they know, and who they know who could help. When homeopathy has helped a family member, which often is a child, the mom will continue to use homeopathy, bringing other family members in for homeopathic care and also telling their friends. They will be spreading homeopathy to the world, to their own world.

During the case taking with the patient, moms are helpful in giving their observations and knowledge of the patient. They will voice what they have noticed has changed. They will express their observations. Their information helps in knowing more about the particular family member who has come in for homeopathic care.

I feel very grateful for moms. A big thank to you all.

Flu And Seasonal Illnesses

We are starting the flu season and are hearing of other illnesses that are going around. Homeopathy can be very helpful if someone comes down with the flu, the coronavirus and other illnesses, including difficulty breathing. To know, it is okay to be sick. I often say that when we are sick, it is our body telling us, or rather forcing us, to rest and slow down.

With it being the holiday season we are busier than usual. We may experience many different emotions about the holiday season. We may have expectations about how the holidays need to be, and how we need to be. We are exposed to more people than usual, through socializing and traveling. We are doing and feeling more at this time of the year.

I have written several posts about the flu and homeopathy over the years. Here is a link to one of those posts. The Flu -What To Do? Homeopathy Can Help.

During this time of the year, take the time to take care of and for yourself. Listen to what you need. I specifically say this to moms, take that time.

Homeopathy And Homeopathic Remedies

Many people have heard of homeopathy. They may have seen the word homeopathy written or printed on products. For many people, homeopathy has become synonymous for the word natural, and may be used that way in the media when describing healing treatments and products. When I am talking about homeopathy to someone new, they may say to me, or think to themselves, that this essential oils or herbal medicine or supplements. Those are not what homeopathy is.

Homeopathy is its own system of medicine. It was developed by the German physician Samuel Hahnemann in the late 1700’s. Homeopathy means “similar suffering”: homeo (or homoeo, the original spelling – homoeopathy) means similar, and pathy means suffering. Through listening, observing, witnessing, and understanding what is bothering the person and how they experience it, their suffering, a homeopathic remedy is given that is similar to their suffering. This is applying the Law of Similars or Like Cures Like, one of the main principles of homeopathy. The given homeopathic remedy stimulates the person’s own innate healing ability.

Similar suffering, homeopathy, is helpful for first aid situations, acute health issues, and chronic health issues. It is always finding out how the person experiences what is bothering them and giving them the similar to that in the form of a homeopathic remedy.

What Is A Homeopathic Remedy?

homeopathic-remedies-bottles-different-35796044

There are over 4000 homeopathic remedies. They are made from plants, minerals, metals, animals, and other natural and even man made sources.

Each substance that is made into a homeopathic remedy goes through a potentization process, in which the substance starts either in a mother tincture form or grinded up (triturated) and made into a liquid. To make the C or centesimal potency, one part of the mother tincture is mixed with 99 parts of a water/alcohol liquid. This liquid is then succussed, meaning shaken vigorously and banged against a book or hard surface, resulting in the 1C potency. This is the hand method of making homeopathic remedies that Dr. Samuel Hahnemann developed.

To make the 2C potency, one part of the 1C potency is mixed with 99 parts of a water/alcohol liquid and succussed. At the 12C potency, this process of potenization has been done 12 times. Higher potencies can be made continuing this method, such as 15C, 30C, and 200C. There is the X potency, which is 10 parts. These are 6X, 12X and 30X. And the M potency, which is 1000 parts, making 1M, 10M, 50M and CM. Some of you may have used these potencies.

At the 12C potency and higher ones, there is nothing left of the physical substance of which the homeopathic remedy is made from. It is the energetic pattern of the substance. The selection of the homeopathic remedy and the potency used are similar to what the person is experiencing. Similar suffering, homeopathic.

During Hahnemann’s time, the late 1700’s early 1800’s, mercury was used as a medicine to help people who had syphilis and for other ailments. The people were cured, but they were dead, poisoned by the use of mercury. By coming up with this potenization method of diluting and succussing, Hahnemann was making these substances that were deadly in their crude form, into substances that were gentle, safe, and healing. I don’t know how he came to this potenization method, but to me it is genius.

When making the tincture or grinding the substance only a small part of the substance is used to make a lot of a homeopathic remedy. With homeopathic remedies that are made from an animal, the animal is not killed. A small part of the milk, a feather, a drop of blood, or venom is used to make the homeopathic remedy.

The homeopathic remedies that I use in my practice are purchased from a homeopathic pharmacy, such as Hahnemann Labs in Northern California, and Helios in England. These pharmacies make the homeopathic remedies on their premises, using the method that Dr. Samuel Hahnemann developed, that I briefly described above, by hand and by the use of a machine to do the succession. There are other pharmacies in Europe, India, the US, and other parts of the world.

Homeopathy To Heal

Homeopathy is helpful for many of the health issues people experience today. These passed several weeks I have seen and had calls from people experiencing a cough and fever, wanting help when having dental work, skin eruptions, allergies, pain in their hands, anxiety and feeling overwhelmed, cysts in a breast, bloating, and sudden abdominal pains that goes away and comes back again. The age range was from a young child to an older adult.

I invite you to see how homeopathy can be helpful for you or a loved one. I offer a complimentary 15+ Get Acquainted Call to learn more. Never Too Late – My Tapestry Weaving

I have recently started weaving tapestries again. It has been a long time since I have woven. I have painted over these last years, but have not woven. Weaving is slow and a little rigid in that you can’t move around the warp as you can around a canvas or a paper, although I have thought about trying “moving around” on the warp. I feel very happy that I am weaving again.

I had been saying over the years that if I do weave again, it will be different. What I wove recently was different from what I had woven before, yet it was the same, too. I remembered how to do it – the techniques of tapestry weaving I remembered. The image of the tapestry is slightly different from ones that I have done in the past. Actually, what I wove is a section from a painting I did several years ago. My son wrote in a text to me after seeing the tapestry, “I see similarities to your recent paintings, but it also still calls back to your older tapestries.” He put it will. There is a blending of the new and the old.

Never Too Late

It is never too late to do something new or go back to what we have done before. And it is never too late to find out if there are other possibilities for our health care and ways to take care of ourselves, such as with using homeopathy. If we are experiencing a health issue for a long time and are not feeling any better, it may be a good time to see what other options there are. When I meet with a patient, I ask when did this or these symptoms start to bother you, and what was going on then in your life. It could havemarigold-1503876_960_720 (1) been something that happened recently or it could have been something fairly back in time. Homeopathy can help no matter when something happened. It is not too late to help yourself even from things that have happened in the past.

I think we sometimes get stuck in a rut. We keep doing the same things over and over again, not necessarily thinking or knowing even that there could be some other ways of doing things. Maybe it feels like it is too much to do anything new, or to change it, or to even look around to see if there are any other options.

I receive calls and emails from many people regarding a health issue for themselves or for a loved one. They may have found that the types of health treatments they are doing are not helping them. They want to feel better and are feeling stuck. With the people who call me, some have used homeopathy before and some have not. All of them were open to seeing how something new could be of help to them. Some of these people made an appointment to see me and some did not. Still, they were open to see about something new.

There are always opportunities, choices, and possibilities. It is never too late to get care, even going back to some healing treatment you did before. It is never too late to start something new, or to pick up some activity or passion or love that you did before, just as I did with tapestry weaving.
