Patients often tell me that they are sensitive, sensitive to medications, supplements and vitamins. I take this in consideration when deciding on the potency of the homeopathic remedy, and how often the person will take it.
This is only one kind of sensitivity.
I think we are all sensitive.
We are sensitive to things outside of our bodies. And a particular part of our body or functioning of our body can be more sensitive. That is the part of the body where we experience symptoms when we are under stress. Someone may have headaches or migraines. Someone may have digestive issues; skin eruptions, such as hives; menstrual difficulties; breathing difficulties; sleep issues; feel very anxious or nervous, to name a few.
Sensitivities can also be to many different things in our environment, in our relationships, in our work life and more. We may think that having a sensitivity is only negative. Sensitivities can also be positive. A person feels better from being out in the sun, or outside in the fresh air. They are sensitive to the sun, in a positive way.
Sensitivities
Physical and environmental:
- temperature and weather changes
- moon phases
- time of day
- seasons
- heat or cold
- clothing
- being covered or uncovered
- particular foods and drink
- medications, supplements
- touch, pressure or lack of touch or pressure, textures
- other environmental occurrences
- sounds, light, smells, tastes, touch
- air, drafts, wind
- sun
- pain
Emotional. With the list below, many people may not like what is happening or want to be around it, such as experiencing an angry person. We may have a response or reaction to the situation. Someone who has more of a sensitivity to it, such as with being around an angry person, will be affected more by it. In a way, the person is stuck in the angry.
- angry situations, quarrels, arguments
- teasing, joking, bullying
- criticism, lack of appreciation, humiliating
- sadness, grief
- betrayal
- rudeness
- feeling left out, forsaken
- pressure of deadlines
- talking to other people – to individuals or to groups
- preforming
- responsibilities, sense of duty
- jealousy
When we are feeling stressed, we are more triggered by our sensitivities and to what is happening around us. We may then start to experience physical, emotional, or mental symptoms. In a way, it is our body’s way of handling this stress. With homeopathic care, the response of the symptoms we experience may become less pronounced. We may still experience the stress, still be bothered by it, yet we are able to handle the situations better, without being as affected as much. Other tools, techniques and therapies can also be helpful.
Sensitivity To Loud Noises
Over this past year, I have seen several people who are very sensitive to noise and sounds. To the point that they wear ear plugs or muffs, and are not taking part in life’s every day activities. Each of the cases were different, and needed a different homeopathic remedy, that fit them, even though what brought them into homeopathy, the sensitivity to noise and sounds was the same.
One woman has done very well. We used two homeopathic remedies and then the third one helped greatly. She is still doing very well, having a dose of the homeopathic remedy when needed. Her experience with homeopathy shows that very often a series of homeopathic remedies are needed, helping the case move forward. It is a process of healing.
