What is this Like Cures Like or Law of Similars, that I keep writing about? What is this giving the similar to what the patient is experiencing in the form of a homeopathic remedy?
Onion
Think how it feels when you are cutting, peeling, or slicing an onion. Your eyes start to tear, to burn and to sting. You wipe or rub your eyes, sometimes using a cloth, trying to get out whatever is in them, if there is anything. Your nose may also start to run or 
drip. Other people may say you are crying. You say you are crying. It doesn’t feel like it does when you are crying. Yes, there are tears, but this is not how you feel when you cry. Your eyes don’t usually sting or burn when you are crying.
If someone is experiencing these kinds of symptoms that I described above when they have a cold or an allergy, the homeopathic remedy Allium cepa may be helpful for them. Allium cepa is made from the red onion.
It doesn’t matter if it is a cold or an allergy. It is the symptoms of the burning, the stinging, the tearing, the runny eyes and nose that are guiding the homeopath to the homeopathic remedy. In this case, guiding them to Allium cepa. The name, whether it is a cold or allergy, doesn’t mean anything. It is the symptoms that are the guide.
The example of peeling an onion is used very often to explain Like Cures Like.
Symptoms
The symptoms are the pieces of the total picture of the person. Homeopaths use the symptoms as a guide to what homeopathic remedy is needed for the person; matching the homeopathic remedy to the symptoms that make up the totality of the person. This is Like Cures Like. You can see why the homeopath needs to know a lot about each person, so the similar, the similar homeopathic remedy, can be given.
The symptoms are the way the vital force, the immune system, the chi, of the person is trying to heal itself. Giving the similar in the form of the homeopathic remedy assists in the person’s healing process.
When I meet with a patient, I am finding out about them, about their symptoms. This can be for any health issue that a person comes to homeopathy for – such as menstrual difficulties, anxiety, depression, digestive issues, skin eruptions, fears, headaches, allergies, sore throats, ear infections, autoimmune issues, to list just a few. And then giving the similar in the form of the homeopathic remedy, Like Cures Like.
Coronavirus
Over a year ago, I wrote several blogs on how homeopathy can be helpful with the coronavirus. I want to mention this again. Homeopathy is helpful:
- if someone comes down with the coronavirus
- is having “long haul”, lingering types of symptoms
- has a “breakthrough” infections
- has had a vaccine and is experiencing side effects from it, soon after or continuing over a period of time.
Homeopaths all over the world are helping people using homeopathic remedies that are similar to what the person is experiencing, in regards to the coronavirus. Again, this is Like Cures Like.
We don’t hear about how homeopathy is helpful in mainstream news. I want you to know that there are ways to help yourself and your family. And homeopathy can be used along with other healing modality treatments.
