I have written about how homeopathy is so helpful for children. I want to tell you about how homeopathy helped a young girl.
I will call her Robin. She is about 2 1/2 years old.
Robin is from a big family, with many siblings. She doesn’t want to interact socially with people outside of the family. When Robin is outside of the house and her mother is not next to her, and someone approaches her, Robin will start screaming. She won’t make eye contact with anyone.
When Robin was 6 months old, her mother started to take her out. When she was in a stressful situation she would convulse and tremble. This reaction did go away. Now, she screams. At times, specifically screaming “I am scared”, and is crying. She runs to her mother to be picked up, holding onto her mother tightly. She seems anxious too.
At night, Robin seems more relaxed as compared to the daytime. She won’t sleep on her own though. During the day Robin won’t take her nap, unless she is on her mother’s lap. She will start to scream when she wakes up and finds she is alone. She needs someone to be with her while she goes to sleep.
I asked about how Robin is in the dark. Her mother said, I don’t think she will like it. (I am thinking that they usually have a light on.)
Robin wants all of her mother’s attention. It seems as though Robin is unable to separate herself from her mother. If she feels like she is separate from her mother, or someone is going to come between her and her mother, she is upset. And she has tantrums when one wouldn’t expect a tantrum to occur.
I suggested the homeopathic remedy Stramonium. This homeopathic remedy is made from the Thorn-apple plant or Datura.
After taking Stramonium, Robin’s mother said, it is as if Robin was like a new person. Now when they go to the health store, and someone holds the door open for her, Robin will say hi to them and look directly at them, making eye contact. She had never done that before.
The fears have left, her mother says. Robin is not scared of the stove in the kitchen anymore. The stove was something Robin was very afraid of, to the point that she was very leery about going into the kitchen.
A couple of months later, Robin had another dose of Stramonium. Her mother wrote soon after that Robin seems more like “herself”. She is not really scared of strangers anymore. She is more free, and says hi to other people, to the point that Robin’s mother is thinking of teaching Robin to be a little bit wary of strangers. Now, Robin loves to play with other children, where before she held back from doing so. Robin is not as clingy, which makes it a little bit easier for her mother.
A physical symptom that Robin experienced is also better. Robin used to complain several times a week, that her eye hurt. She would scream out in pain. Her mother did have her eye checked. Now, after taking Stramonium, the eye pain and the severity of the pain is much less. Robin doesn’t scream anymore that she is in pain. Now she says, “my eye hurts”. Her mother comforts her at that time for a few minutes, or sometimes Robin may be distracted by playing even before her mother can come over to comfort her.
Stramonium is a homeopathic remedy that can be helpful for both children and adults. Homeopathy is based on the principle of Like Cures Like or the Law of Similars. As a homeopath, I am observing, hearing, and witnessing what bothers the person. Then giving the similar of this in the form of a homeopathic remedy. The homeopathic remedy stimulates the person’s own healing process.
