Are You Experiencing Lingering Effects From A Trauma?

I have written  about traumas before, and have talked about the use of the homeopathic remedy Arnica Montana in many of my posts when there has been a trauma.

Recently, when I was with a friend, we were talking about traumas, physical and emotional ones. And that often there can be lingering effects from the trauma, such as a person having chronic pain, flare up of certain symptoms, feeling emotionally  distressed, regressing in behaviors and development, and more.

Traumas

A trauma can be physical and emotional. Some physical traumas can be from surgeries, giving birth, falls, vaccine reactions, accidents, and experiencing a down and outnatural disaster. Some emotional traumas could be the loss of a loved one through death, an illness, or a divorce; the experience of war; the experience of abuse, emotionally and physically; the experience of loss of a job or home; being in a natural disaster; and exposure to toxins in the air, water, soil, or environment.

(I have natural disasters in both categories. We are seeing more of them occurring.)

The person may have sought out help at the time of the trauma or soon afterwards,  and may have also used homeopathy.  The trauma may have been looked at as a first aid situation, looking at taking care of what has happening at that present time. And the help that the person received was beneficial to them. Yet, for some people there may be a lingering from the trauma, showing up in physical symptoms, emotional states of anxiety, fear, sadness or depression, or a feeling of just not being well.  The person may even say, I have not been well since “this” happened.

When I meet with a patient, I often ask what was going on when this (the symptoms or state of not being well) started.  In a way, I am looking for a cause. A cause in the sense that this may be the initiator, the start, to why they are not feeling well.

In My Practice

These are some of the traumas, and lingering states I have seen in my practice:

  • a woman who had two c-sections. A lot of scar tissue developed, and she experienced a lot of pain and discomfort during her menstrual cycle.
  • a concussion from a car accident. The woman experienced vertigo and difficulty focusing and the use of computers was very difficult for her.
  • a woman who was exposed to toxins after being in an area where there had been fires.
  • a boy who had reactions to vaccines.
  • a woman who lost her her husband, and was deeply grieving.
  • a man who hasn’t been well since having the flu.

Healing

In a lot of circumstances, healing takes time. We don’t always want to hear that it takes time. We want to feel better right now.  We don’t like to not feel well.

When we experience a trauma, it may affect us on many levels, and it may also bring up states and feelings we had experienced in the past. We may use different healing modalities to help us, such as homeopathy, message, acupuncture, Chinese medicine, energy body work, therapy, chiropractic, western medicine and more. The healing is a process, and in some ways it can be a deep learning experience about ourselves.

First Aid Class – Using Homeopathic Remedies To Help In The Healing

In my last blog post, I wrote about what my niche is: chronic, ongoing health homeopathy first aidconcerns. Homeopathy is wonderful for chronic conditions. Homeopathy is also wonderful for acute and first aid concerns.

Over the past years, I have written blogs, talking about specific homeopathic remedies that are useful for sprains, traumas, burns, during a natural disaster, and when having dental work.

In February, I am offering a class in the San Diego area on some of the homeopathic remedies I wrote about, and to also talk a little bit about homeopathy.  You are welcome to come if you are in the San Diego area. If you are not local, and are interested in having a class on first aid in your area, we could plan an online course via Skype, Facetime or Whatsapp.

Here is the flyer for the class on First Aid I am giving on Saturday, February 9th at Lifelong Yoga. If you know of someone who may be interested in the class, I would appreciate you passing this information on to them. Thank you.

My Niche As A Homeopath

A lot of times, I am asked what is my niche? Who do I see? What kinds of health concerns do I see in my homeopathic practice? Do I have a specialty area? Do I see people who have  _______________?

My Answer

I don’t see any particular health concern. I see mostly children and women, for all sorts of health concerns, but not a particular area, such as women’s issues. (And then I think to myself, maybe I should have a niche, a specialty area.)

The people that do come for homeopathy are usually ones who may have an ongoing chronic condition. They are better, from taking some form of medication or receiving healing treatments, but then they are not feeling well, again. They experience a flare up of their health concern, such as another ear infection, another skin eruption, another digestion upset, or another migraine headache.

For example, a 2 year old boy I saw several years ago was having recurring ear infections and nasal congestion over a period of 6 months. (That is a quarter of his life!) He was proscribed antibiotics. He would be better for 4 weeks or so after the course of the antibiotics, and then the ear infection and nasal congestion would return. This happened several times. After one dose of the given homeopathic remedy, he did not have any more ear infections. He did very well.

My Niche

If I listen to the answer I give to people when asked what my niche is, I am actually telling them my niche. I didn’t realize that. So, here is my niche:

  • People who want to be better, who want to feel well. niche
  • People who have an ongoing, chronic health concern. A chronic health concern means, that they feel better and then feel worse again. They experience periodic flareups.
  • People who live with the health concern, managing and living with it, in any way they can.
  • People who have used other healing modalities, that have helped by giving them some relief, but there has not been a healing at the root cause of what is bothering them.
  • People who are open to doing another form of healing.
  • People who are open and interested in homeopathy.

This is my niche.

And these are the kinds of people who I mostly see in my homeopathic practice.
