Several weeks ago, I received an email from a patient that I had seen 12 years ago. Actually, the email was from the mother of a patient I seen when he was 5 years old.
What was bothering the son 12 years ago, was bothering him now. Granted, his circumstances were different. He was now in college and living in a different state. His mother wanted to know what the homeopathic remedy was that he had used years ago, and possibly if he could use it again.
I keep the files of my patients that I have seen over the years. As I was reading his file, I remembered the case. I don’t think I could describe the boy physically or how he looked, but I remembered the case, and what led me to selecting the homeopathic remedy that was given.
I emailed the mother back, telling her the homeopathic remedy, and what the cost would be for the remedy and for it to be sent to her son. I also said that there is a possibility that her son’s state has changed, and a different homeopathic remedy would be needed now. And that it would be best to come in for an appointment. The mother agreed, and so did her son. We thought of doing a Skype appointment since he was out of state. But with his schedule being so busy, it was decided that he would see me in December during his winter break, and see me in person.
In the meantime, I sent him the homeopathic remedy that he took in the past, with the understanding that it may work or not work this time. I suggested that he be in touch with me 10 days after taking the remedy to let me know how he was doing.
It was very gratifying to hear from this mother, and knowing that homeopathy had helped her son so many years ago. And now, they were looking to homeopathy for the present situation, and reaching out for help. I often see in my practice how homeopathy has become a part of my patients’ ongoing health care. When they need help they contact me. This mother’s email was an example and a reminder of homeopathy being part of one’s ongoing health care. It felt good.
