Homeopathy is truly a holistic form of medicine. Homeopathy focuses on and treats the whole person. I wrote in an earlier post about my mulberry tree in my backyard. I used the tree as an analogy to wholeness. You can read that post here.
What brings someone in for homeopathic care is usually a specific reason – a physical complaint, an emotional issue, a lingering affect from an accident, an ongoing response to something, or just doesn’t feel right. In addition to hearing about this specific health concern, the homeopath is also finding out about the whole person. The specific health concern is often a reflection/a manifestation/an expression of the whole.
Wanting The Whole Shebang
I often say that I want the whole shebang in a healing for the patient. What I mean is that there is a healing for what brought the person in, AND there is a healing in the person themselves as a whole. This could mean that other health concerns that may bother the person are better; the person is eating and sleeping better; and there is a shift in the person’s mindset. The person has a better sense of themselves, and becomes more of who they truly are, not being held back by limitations, either physically, emotionally, mentally or spiritually.
A Good Example
Recently, I had a very good example of this – a healing of the wholeness.
A patient who has been seeing me for over 6 months for homeopathy, recently told me that her gynecologist had noted that she is moving through menopause in a very timely way. A blood test had been given to my patient, and the results from this test showed that she was almost through the process of menopause. (I didn’t know that they had this kind of test.)
My patient comes in regularly for follow up appointments. Together, we have seen how she has been moving forward in her health. What brought her initially in for homeopathic care is much better. And she has remarked that other health issues and how she has approached situations in her life are better as well. She had specifically commented in one of the follow up appointments, before she had had the appointment with the gynecologist that I mentioned above, that her last menstrual period had occurred with no significant discomfort or excessive bleeding. She had experienced these kinds of symptoms before, during her period, and before having started homeopathic treatment.
I was not surprised to hear what my patient’s gynecologist said, nor about how my patient was experiencing her menstrual cycle. I was not surprised to hear that the healing that my patient was experiencing had not only been for what brought her in to homeopathy, but also was helping her in many ways. The healing was healing the whole of her. This is what you want.
My patient also added that her gynecologist was interested in knowing more about how homeopathy is helpful and healing. And that perhaps she would let some of her other patients know about homeopathy.
